prologue part 1

It was an unexpectedly cold day yet my body was hot from the incredible excitement that boiled my blood like fire.The thin snow was falling slowly,resting on the shoulders of my coat. The alleyway  had seen better days,rubbish bags littered the space,allowing only a narrow gap for bystanders.The sound of scuttling  rats fighting over food could be hears faintly,snapping me out of thought and into reality as I looked ahead.

"Who the hell do you think you are?"A grunt yelled blocking my path

"Yeah,do you wanna be a dead man?"the other added joining him followed by two others who were shouting things too.I did'nt speak at first.I just stood there with my hands thrust in each pocket.I was waiting for there next move.

"Hey,are you even listening?"Before he could react I sucker punched him in the jaw,the force sent him to the floor,he was already out cold.The others gasped,slowly backing away in fear.It was then one of them came in from behind with a baseball bat,I twirled round,caught it and punched him in the gut.Casting the bat into the nearby bin I gripped the guy by the collar and dragged him off the ground. "The name is Kira Hannabishi,don't you forget it"I replied Finally.

"I wont,I wont! please don't hurt me!"The guy begged hysterically after noticing the crimson arm band wrapped around my arm.It was prof of my position I held.

I sighed releasing him as he landed sluggishly on his feet and ran off into the distance with his his fellow attackers. 

Back then, even though it had been several months since,I remembered it well.The days when I was the member of a street gang in town known as the 'Spartans',we got the name because we constantly moved places to avoid the police.

"Hey, you took care of them quickly huh?"A voice called.

I turned to see a familiar face emerge from the open alleyway,It was Micah,a Friend and fellow comrade to the Spaterns,he was accompanied by a few others who were supporting me. "It wasn't that hard,all i had to do was tell them my name and they ran off with there tail between there legs"I explained with a smile.

"Ha,so much for the backup! You did'nt even need aney help with them"Micah called.

"What can you expect from the bosses right hand man?A few armatures are nothing against him right?"One of the others praised.

"Right!"The others cheered.

"C,mon guys,aren't you over doing it a little? I'm not that good,I just do the job"I said,being modest about it.

"Yeah but none douse it better than you Kira,am I right?"Micah replied.

"I guess that's true"I admitted after a chuckle before making my way back with the others.Our gang wer'nt like the others,we took care of other gangs who would get in the way of their peoples lives.Like  robbers,thugs,joy riders est.You could say we were guardian angels,protecting the weak from the strong.It was the ideals of our leader,who was conveniently my older brother Kain.We shared the same idea,which was to make the town of Camrose a safer place.But there was the odd time we would do something bad,just for fun.

"What did you do this time?"Kain asked in concern.

By this time my clothes we were all covered in mud,as well as the people who came with me,Micah was stood behind whispering "dude,your so busted.." which didn't help at all.The air was tense around me like I was facing a death sentance,I watched kain from below the lower ground like a puppy.He was a lot smarter than me,he could catch on quick if something was going on with his sharp mind unlike his idiot brother.But I did respect him as a good leader,and event though I wouldn't admit it out loud,I cared about him too.

"Well...You see"I began with a few false starts before Finlay collecting my thoughts "me and Micah went to the arcade with some of the others,the police were there so we had to lose them in the forest across the river,we got a little lost on the way back too"I explained.

"Really?Is that true Mikah?"Kain pressed

"Yeah,hes telling the truth boss"he assured

Kain cracked a smile and burst out laughing,I looked up at him in doubt "Good work Kira,it sounds to me that your getting better at leading the gang out of trouble,is that right?"He asked walking over towards me. "Everyone your free to go,I need to speak with my right hand man"he added as the others dispersed and walked out the exit to leave.

"What is it Kain,something wrong?"I asked slouching down at the couch taking a biscuit from the box.The sound of the rapper ripping broke the moments silence.

The home Base was an old abandoned mansion that was closed down when the air to the fortune died a year ago,it was shut off from the public and the only way in was through the orchid in the back garden,it was like a fortress."No.I just wanted to see if you were all right after that errand I sent you out with"Kain replied resting his back on the couches arm. "Oh that,it was easy not even worth mentioning"I replied taking a bite out of the biscuit.

"Well thats good,I heard from Mikah they tried hitting you wth a baceball bat"

"It was a cheap shot,I saw it coming"

"So your all right?"he pressed

"Yeah,how about you?"

"Tired.I missed another date with Anna"he admitted

"Thats a real bummer...shouldent you do something?"

"I don't know...maybe it's for the best"

I quickly leaped up off the couch making his attention draw to me as I chucked the wrapper into the bin with a straight shot. "Your gonna dump her? C,mon man that's low,go and apologise to her for being late,im sure she'll understand if you tell her whats going on"I urged.

After a moment of thinking he came to a decision to go and try and make up with her while I went back home to have some lunch.The moment I opened the door I was welcomed by a Little girl who plunged into my arms,making us both fall over from the weight.

 "Welcome home Kira!" It was a classmate from school,every day she waited for me at the house and prepared food for us since our parents were abroad with there job we had to feed our selfs but we couldn't cook.

"Sally,I didn't know you were here this late.."I replied awkwardly

"I always like waiting for you Kira,I made dinner espeily for you tonight"she said with a smile.

"Oh thaks and all but sally?"I began

"Yes Kira?"

"Would you get off me already?"I grunted

She soon relised what I  meant and quickly got up off me so I could breath properly,she stepped in and whent back into the kitchen to dish out the food.I got to my feet and closed the door behind me,the smell of curry filled the air when I walked into the kitchen to take a seat by the table.

"I made your favourite,chiken curry,it's almost done so wait just a minute"she called happily

I waited patiently until she placed the food on the table before sitting in the chair opposite me "Thanks for the meal sally"I said before digging in to the curry.

"So how was your day?"she asked curiously

"It was allright."I shrugged.

I dident know at the time.That things were starting to change,not just with me but Kain too.A cruel fate awaited us,it was coming to change our lives.All that wad left was for us to realise it.
