"Hey," I heard a voice cry behind me.
"Oh Bessy, hiya!" I slurred, slumping towards her.
"Are you drunk?" She laughed as Joe came up behind her.
"Ha ha, no." I giggled before shout-whispering, "I'm lying, I've had so many shots, I an even count!"
"Okay, maybe we should get you home." Joe laughed.
"No, no, no," I slurred, "the night is still young, my friend." I giggled before falling back and being caught by someone behind me.
"Wow, it looks like someone's a little drunk!" I heard Brian say along with a breathy chuckle.
"Excuse me Ryan, I am very sober." I giggled as I stood from his grip and wobbled over to the dance floor, the guys following. My eye were suddenly caught by Kaley... This wasn't gonna go down well.
"It looks like someone's drunk a little too much," She laughed smugly, her arm wrapped around Sal. "It's funny... I pictured you as an attractive drunk," I turned to face her as Helen came to back me up. Without thinking, my arm swung back and punched her in her perfectly formed nose. She fell into Sal's arms as the momentum of the punch caused me to fall to the floor. As my head lay on the dance floor, a crowd starting to form, my eyes fell shut and I fell into blackness.I woke up to the low rumble of a car engine. My eyes flickered open and caught sight of the car window. It was still pitch black outside. I soon realised I was in a cab and saw the blue of Helen's dress opposite me. My head hurt like a bitch and to be honest... I hadn't quite sobered up yet. Taking in my surroundings, I felt a large hand on my back and my eyes flicked up to find who it belonged to. I began to remember the events of the night as my knuckles were red and sore. To my complete surprise and shock, I saw Sal and realised my head was in his lap. He was on his phone and tapping away. Why wasn't he with his girlfriend that I'd punched?.. Surly he wants nothing to do with me. The car came to a halt and I still felt half asleep.
"Would you mind carrying her upstairs to her flat?" I heard Helen whisper as a muscular arm slid beneath my legs and I was lifted into the air.
"Sure," I heard Sal heave.
"Can I give you a hand buddy?" I heard Brian's voice say. He was here too! I didn't even see him.
"No you're okay man, she's light as a feather." Sal laughed as he began to climb the stairs leading to my flat. Inside, I was doing a victory dance... Every girl wants to hear she's 'light as a feather'. I heard the jingle of keys as Helen unlocked my door. My eyes were drowsily, half-open and I heard Ramsey and Juno scamper up to the door and begin to bark when the strangers came inside.
"Shh," Helen whispered as she petted the dogs and tried to convince them I wasn't dead... It must of looked like it to them though.
"Where shall I put her?" Sal mumbled quietly. They were obviously trying not to wake me up.
"Her bedroom's through their," Helen said as I heard her making Brian a drink in my kitchen. I was then laid gently on my bed as I sunk into the soft mattress. I felt a warm hand tuck some loose strands of hair behind my ear. My eyes were now clamped shut as I didn't want Sal knowing I'd kinda been awake the whole time. He laid the quilt on my bed over my body and then did something completely unexpected. I felt hot breath hovering over me which almost made me shiver, but I stopped myself. Then a gentle kiss on my forehead followed by these words,
"Goodnight Jaime... What have you done to me?" That was the last thing I remember before drifting off to sleep.
