Buried in the calm of deep blues
The wind howled, blowing through her hair
A hushed breath escaped her lips
With a whoosh, her wings unfurled
The ocean waves crashed upon the rocks
The quiet hum was carried over the soaring wind
Everything bathed in the white glory of her wings
Her heart beat rhythmically with the waves
Her red lips silently begun to count
One, a hallow smile kissed her lips
Two, her eyes closing in peace
Three, the restraints binding fell limp
Four...five, the small droplets caressed her skin
Six, she breathed in
Seven, the fog clouding her mind lifted
Eight, the frosty air chilled her bones
Nine, the tranquility reached out to her
Ten, with her wings beating softly, she let go.
Yours truly,
Hazel.
