Chapter 29: A New Friend

HEY MINNA SO I'VE DECIDED TO UPDATE AGAIN, I KNOW PRETTY COOL RIGHT? I REALLY HOPE YOU GUYS LIKE MY STORY. EXAMS HAVE ME IN A JAM AND I'M LUCKY TO SQUEEZE THIS CHAPTER IN MY SCHEDULE AND IT MIGHT NOT BE THE BEST BUT IT'S FINE WITH YOU RIGHT? WELL I DON'T CARE IF IT IS OR NOT YOU'LL LIKE IT. I CAN ALMOST GUARANTEE IT.

   (Gramps POV)

  "I think it's time to activate code red," Natsu stated. "but I'm not sure if the other kids are ready for it. They'll get suspicious on why school is cancelled, won't they?" I thought for a second. "We'll have to start training, and since this school doesn't have a board I call the shots. I'll cancel all examinations and call summer vacation early. (A/N: I wish) The people like us will train in the arena the first principle built underground.

   Natsu's eyes went wide. "There's an underground training arena?! Why didn't you ever tell me?!" Natsu exclaimed. "Because it was only supposed to be used for code red , which is when the prophecy is coming in effect." I explained getting bored because it should be obvious as to why I never told this idiot about the underground arena.

   "That's lame, but anyway you should announce it soon. I wonder how Luce is gonna take th-... OH MY GOSH! I left her in the classroom with everyone, she must be freaking out so much right now! I gotta get to class to calm her down!" Natsu bolted out of his chair and dashed to the door, though he didn't get very far for I stretched my arm and grabbed his weird scaly scarf that he always wears.

   "Hold on brat, take this note saying Lucy and yourself are excused for the rest of the day." I said stretching my other arm to hand him the note. "Why?" Natsu asked. "Because her mind hasn't healed yet from everything she's been through." I said calmly.

   "You know about what she's been through? How? If you knew she was being abused why didn't you do anything! What kind of mage are you?!!?" Natsu yelled with his eyes full of anger. "Natsu if I was able to help her believe me I would've helped in a heart beat but I couldn't." I retracted my arms, sat down and tried to calm myself. "I have my resources on how I knew. I'll save the explanation for another time. Now get to class to Lucy, I'm sure she needs you more than you need an explanation for this." Natsu scrunched his nose and gave me a dirty look before giving a little smirk. "Thanks Gramps." With that he dashed out of my office.

   "Ah to be young." I said wistfully. "Now to get back to managing these expenses." I grumbled looking at my paper covered desk.

   (Natsu POV)

   I ran down the halls as fast as possible not caring if I get caught. When I got to the right door I stopped and opened it. I was hoping I wasn't going to walk in on Lucy having a panic attack. 

   What I saw was the complete opposite, she was talking to people who were sitting beside her. She looked like she was calm, talking to those people and smiling...that fake smile. I knew it was too good to be true. She had me going there for a second but that stupid smile made me realize this is all a charade, that she really is scared on the inside. I have to get her out of here.

   I walked over to Wakaba-sensei's desk and placed the note in front of him. He read and grunted. "Get out of here." I walked over to my desk and grabbed my things, I made eye contact with a particular blonde, her eyes were unreadable, blank. I smiled at her reassuringly and said, "Let's go." I nodded towards the door. Lucy sighed in relief, said goodbye quickly to our classmates, gathered her things and sped walked towards me. together we walked out of class and put our things away. We were walking down the hall when suddenly, "Well well well, look who it is."

   We turned around to see a short white haired teen. Lucy instantly tensed up, I don't blame her, the last time her and Lisanna met she almost died. I took a step forward and pulled Lucy behind me, she gently rested her hand on my shoulder assuring me that she's still here.

   "What do you want Lisanna?" I asked. "Listen I'm not here to cause trouble. I'm here to apologize." The ivory girl responded sadly. "Apologize huh? Well I don't think a wimpy little apolo-" "Natsu let her explain herself." Lucy said softly cutting me off. "But Luce-" I complained. "Natsu, please." Oh no, not the puppy eyes and...ARGH! The pouty lip, you're kidding me right? "*Sigh* Fine." I gasped. "Go ahead Lisanna."

   She nodded. "Lucy I am sincerely sorry for being a bitch to you. I'm sorry for shooting you but it wasn't me who did it. You're not going to believe me but..." She started tearing up and shaking. "I-I was possessed and my possessor made me shoot you." Lisanna sobbed. Lucy stood beside me now, fearless of the crying girl in front of us. "You mean...he possessed you?" Lucy asked. "Y-yes. The d-dark wizard Ze-Zeref possessed m-me." Lisanna fell to her knees and held her head in her hands.

   Lucy suddenly knelt by the crying girl. "Lisanna is that the truth?" She asked. Lisanna nodded and continued to cry, while Lucy had a think face on. Lucy then hummed a random tune going up a scale. Suddenly Luce broke into a small smile, "Indeed it is the truth. I read your mind and I tell you think because I know you are a mage. Let's be friends okay? Although I cannot trust you completely, but over time I'm sure I will. Now if you excuse us, we must be leaving." Lucy said standing up and walked to me.

   "Bye Lisanna." Luce and I said in unison "Bye Lucy. Bye Natsu." The whitette said wiping away her tears and waving goodbye. 

   "You never cease to amaze." I said placing my arm around her shoulders causing her to flinch, so I retracted my arm. "Sorry Luce." I apologized. Suddenly I felt my arm moving without me commanding it to, I looked to see Luce placing my arm around her. "I know, I amaze me too." She smiled.

   A real smile.
