Chapter 54: You're Not Him

I AM SO SORRY EVERYONE. I FORGOT TO UPDATE YESTERDAY, HOPE YOU DON'T MIND. I DON'T REALLY WANT TO SAY ANYTHING ELSE SO ON WITH THE STORY.

(Lucy POV)

   "Don't do anything other than sing, got it?" E.N.D threatened. I nodded. Clearing my voice I thought about the song and it's meaning. 

Clarity by Zedd

   "Hot dive into frozen waves where the past comes back to life. Fight fear for the selfish pain, it was worth it every time. Hold still right before we crash 'cause we both know how this ends. A clock ticks 'till it breaks your glass and I drown in you again."

   "'Cause you are the piece of me I wish I didn't need. Chasing relentlessly, still fight and I don't know why. If our love is tragedy why are you my remedy? If our love's insanity, why are you my clarity?"

   I felt the instrumental play in my heart and I love how easily the words flow. E.N.D looked at me with the same amazement Natsu had when he first heard me sing at our sing off. Oh how long ago that feels. When he was bullying me and how our romance somehow emerged from the battle. Love has weird timing.

   "If our love is tragedy, why are you my remedy? If our love's insanity, why are you my clarity?"

   "Walk on through a red parade and refuse to make amends. It cuts deep through our ground and makes us forget all common sense. Don't speak as I try to leave 'cause we both know what we'll choose. If you pull then I'll push too deep and I'll fall right back to you."

   I went back to singing the chorus with my whole heart. I noticed E.N.D was now completely calm and had his eyes closed. Now is my chance. I walked forward until I was right in front of E.N.D. I placed both of my hands on the sides of his head which made his eyes open in panic and flinch. I stared in his red eyes with my brown eyes and he calmed down again as he felt the pain in his start to spark once he panicked.

   "Why are you my clarity?"

   "Why are you my remedy?"

   "Why are you my clarity?"

   "Why are you my remedy?"

   "If our love is tragedy, why are you my remedy?"

   "If our love's insanity, why are you my clarity?"

   I finished the song and my spell. During the whole song I was singing an incantation to rid of E.N.D and let Natsu come back. I just hoped it worked.

   "Natsu?" I asked as I retrieved my hands. "Natsu's not here." He replied opening his eyes to reveal red orbs. "No..." I gasped tears falling from my eyes. Everybody woke up in the middle of the song slowly watching the scene in front of them.

   I fell to my knees. "I'm sorry Natsu...I-I thought i-it w-would wo-rk." I cried, my face in my hands. My friends started to cry or console those who were crying. "Haa. The great Lucy Heartfilia has failed." Zeref cheered as he sloppily stood up. "Don't cry Lucy and especially don't listen to Zeref." E.N.D consoled kneeling down in front of me. "I'll do my best to protect you in this state, because it's like you said, you're still technically my mate." He said. "B-but you're n-not N-Natsu!" I stammered.

   E.N.D put his hand on top of my head. "I know I'm not Natsu," "I already know that!" I screamed interrupting him. My scream made E.N.D flinch back in pain clutching the sides of his head. "Holy shit Luce! What did I tell you about screaming and my enhanced hearing!?" He exclaimed. I lifted my head at the use of Natsu's nickname for me.

   "Natsu?"

   "Yeah it's me. I was hoping to play this up a bit, but I guess not." He said removing his hands and smiled his stupid childish smile. "You....You dumbass!" I yelled tackling him in a hug, which he happily accepted and returned.

   "But why are your eyes still red?" I asked. "I think it's because E.N.D is still inside me but I can control him now." Natsu theorized. "Well whatever the reason I'm just glad you're back." I smiled. 

   Natsu placed his hand on the back of my head and brought it towards his making our foreheads touch. He closed his eyes and I closed mine cherishing the moment. "Me too Luce. Me too." I removed the shield and we stood up, everyone cheering and clapping.

   "No! This wasn't suppose to happen! You're all suppose to be dead!" Zeref shouted. I turned towards the black mage. He seemed to have healed his wounds but I knew they were still there. "Zeref your time has come, just accept it." I said taking a few steps forward. "Death Orb!" Zeref threw the attack. "Fire Dragon's Roar!" Natsu countered fire spewing from his mouth with greater force than before.

    Natsu's roar cancelled out Zeref's attack. "You can't win Zeref." Natsu said joining my side. "Like hell I can't win!" Zeref jumped off the cliff in hopes to run away and live. "Natsu, let's play some cat and mouse." I smirked sadistically. "Already ahead of you Luce." Natsu said already jumping off the mountain. I soon followed his lead and jumped off the edge ready for the chase. Natsu and I followed the tracks that lead to where the forest was thickest.

   Oddly enough Zeref's tracks led to a clearing and that's where they ended too. "Dammit!" Natsu exclaimed. "Calm down Natsu." I said hoping he'd shut up. I tried to track him using Canes Venatici but even my magic couldn't track him down, instead he just seemed to be everywhere. We stood quiet  in hopes to hear him but nothing stood out.

   "Alive." 

   "There!" Natsu and I sprung into action to our left in the top of the trees. Suddenly the entire ground in the clearing started to shake, the ground opened up to reveal tentacles coming out of it. "Natsu move!" I yelled as a tentacle swung at Natsu which he easily dodged. 

   "If we destroy Zeref that thing should die too." I concluded. "Then let's forget this freaky ass octopus and kill Zeref!" Natsu shouted. We ran after Zeref who, of course, ran off while we were distracted. 

   "We'll need to use a powerful spell to kill him." I said. "Okay. I think I obtained a new mode for my magic since I got E.N.D with me." Natsu said. "Left!" I directed. We were hot on his tail. 

   "Get ready to die you no good son of a bitch!"

SAD THING I NEED TO TELL YOU ALL.........THERE'S ONLY TWO MORE CHAPTERS AFTER THIS. I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS. TWO MORE WEEKS. THAT'S INSANE.
