Lani made sure that the man wouldn't come back in to the room anytime soon. She had been cutting the chain for about 3 weeks now and it was almost broke, she gave another swing and the chain and it broke. She ran down to the floor where the vent hole had been. She used the knife one more time to break it open. Looking back one more time she thought to herself "I'm never gonna miss this place!" She crawled into the vent and closed it behind her, making it look as normal it did

Light! Lani saw something in the distance. After crawling for about 2 hours, getting lost at about every turn she final made it out! Once Lani reached the light though it was only a tiny little hole that she could maybe get her fingers into. "Come on!" She repeated as she kicked, pulled, and punched the wall. "No, no, no! Please!" A tear fell down her face, then another. She was sobbing now, until she heard a voice. She became dead silent

"Hello!?" A young male voice called from the hole. Lani kept quiet and watched him walk back and forth past the hole. "H-hello. I'm, I'm down here!" The boy crawled down on his hands and knees searching around till he found the hole. "What are you doing down there?"

"I'm stuck down here, do you think you can help?" The boy stood back up, Lani thought he was just leaving so she just turned and fell to the ground leaned up against the wall. "Back up!" The boy screamed, she crawled pretty far from the hole. She flew back the rest of the way. She stood up on her knees and dusted off the dirt on her. "What the hell!" She started crawling to the hole again, but this time it wasn't a tiny little hole it was a big one she could fit through. She climbed out and grabbed the boy hand for help.

The sun melted her face, the warm ground dug into her toes, and the boys hand felt soft and smooth. Once her eyes adjusted to the sunlight she saw the boy.

"Hi, I'm jack." The boy smiled like he didn't just rescue a kidnapped girl. "Hi, I'm" she paused for a second trying to remember her name, "Lani, it's lani." The boy picked up his black backpack. "Wait, where are you going?" Lani followed the boy as he started to walk away. "School." The girl stopped and the boy did a few seconds after. He turned around, "Don't you go to school." "Well yeah!" The girl answered, "But, I don't know where it is, where my family is. Where are we?" She looked around trying to see if she recognized the place. "Were in Brooklyn New York. What were you doing down there?" "New York!? How did I get here? I need to get home." Jack was starting to freak out now. "Are you like some time traveler? Where do you live?"

"Florida...."
