"I don't like lying to your mom." Lani said falling onto Jacks bed.
"Well would you like to tell her what happened to you?" He sat down on a chair and started playing with the ball he held.
Lani rolled her eyes and sat up. "When are we going ... You know to find my family?"
"I told you. Winter break. It's only two days away, don't worry." Lani nodded her head and laid back down. She was bored, really bored. For the past week she's been stuck in Jacks messy, not to mention smelly, room. Jack stood from his chair.
"I better go walk We..." Lani interrupted him.
"No!" She shouted a little to loud. "I mean, please don't go. Don't leave me alone here." Jack raised an eyebrow.
"But I have to walk Wesley." Lani nodded again.
"Then can I at least come with you?" She pleaded. Jack shrugged and motioned for her to follow.
Once they got outside they walked in silence. It was awkward.
"So..." Jack ended the silence.
"What?" Lani said. She didn't know what to say, she was just glad she wasn't sitting in a room.
"Nothing." He looked down at the dog who was going at a pretty fast pace. The conversation was going no where. Lani started to ask some questions.
"So, do you have any siblings?" Jack looked up at her.
"One, but he's in college."
"Ooh! Older brother." Lani teased. He smiled. Her smile faded, "what about... Your dad?" Jacks smile disappeared too.
"He's.." He looked down at Wesley again. "I don't really know where he is. That guy.. I wouldn't call him my dad. Just because he made me doesn't mean I'm like him in anyway." Jack got really defensive.
"Did he leave you?" Jack nodded. "I'm sorry."
"It's fine. Didn't want that son of a bitch around me anyways." He kicked a rock and it rolled into sewers. They could hear the echoes of it hitting the hard ground.
Woof
Wesley barked at a person passing by. Jack nor Lani could make out his face. He wore a black hood and was looking down. He was covered, damn he must of been hot! He turned his head slightly at the two, but continued to walk. Lani stopped and looked back at him. He gave her a strange feeling, but not a good one at all!
"What is it?" Jack stopped for Lani seeing her stare at the man in black who had disappeared walking around the corner.
"Nothing." She turned running to catch up with Jack.
