Jack and Lani walked down the side walk, Jack balancing on the edge.
"Be careful, don't want to fall in the street." Lani said as another speeding car flew by. Jack flinched and jumped off the curb onto the sidewalk. He looked at Lani very curiously.
"What?" She said blushing when she had noticed him staring at her.
"You... I just can't imagine why someone would want to kidnap you." Lani's smile turned to a frown,
"It's because of my parents money. You know, they kidnap the daughter the family pays them BIG cash to get her back."
"How long were you in there?" Jack asked keeping his eyes on her.
"I think a few years, like 2 maybe." Jacks face saddened,
"And still they didn't find you." Lani looked away from Jack at the alleyway next to her, she held in the tears. Jack could tell that asking too many personal questions upset her, so he just dedided to stay quiet till they got to the school.
Once they got to the school Lani looked around, it was so much different then her school. Oh, how happy she was to just be at a school! That's the last thing she'd ever think.
"Well... Now what?" Lani asked looking at the boy. He looked at her and they caught each others gaze. Jack stuttered when speaking,
"You.. You c-can stay out.. outside.. or just meet back here after.. sc-schools over... or something." He rubbed the back off his head still staring into Lani's eyes. Lani looked away knowing she was distracting him,
"That sounds like a great idea to me!" She said smiling, Jack turned and ran off to school trying not to be late, he was though. Lani watched him leave, when he was in the building she turned and started running into the woods. She just ran and ran, no destination.
Lani got to a small lake that was in the middle of the woods, a bench lay next to it and Lani sat down. The bench was cold, she put her hands under her legs to keep the chill from crawling up her legs. A tear fell down her face and it was so cold out that she could see her breath. She didn't bother to wipe the tear. Do they really not want me? Was I that bad? Lani wondered about her parents, her sister. She thought about how they never really talked and how her and her mother would get into fights all the time. Her sister never smiled at her when she was by and her dad just looked down at her. Maybe they didn't even look for her. They didn't even want her. She removed her hands from under the bench and her face fell into them, she started to sob. She quickly lifted up her head from her hands still crying when she heard a noise from the bushes. She looked over, hoping it was just a small animal. She stood up when it shook again. Bending down slowly she picked up a stick that was infront of the bench. She slowly stepped towards the bush, one small step at a time.
"Hello?" She asked seeing if anyone would answer. The bush shook again, Lani took a few steps back. Then out came a bunny. It sniffed and looked up at Lani for a quick second before hopping away. Lani let out a sigh of releif, as she dropped her arm. Suddenly a hand went over her mouth and an arm around her waist, she tried to scream but she couldn't. It had to be the man again, he found her.
