So this is our first article. We present to you 7 reasons why your lips are always chapped.
As annoying as chapped lips are, they're one of the easiest beauty problems to fix—starting with what's causing them to be parched to begin with. You have to know what causes it to fix it, right?

The dry weather and the sun Dry weather literally sucks moisture out of your lips to add moisture to the environment, as some people say.
Tips: Use a moisturizing lip balm to hydrate your soft lips, as well as a waxy lip balm to help lock in moisture. Oh, and watch out for the sun. Do not wear shiny lip glosses, because it attracts even more sunlight. Seriously. Wear a lip balm with SPF to help hydrate and protect your mouth, preventing chapped lips.

Salty foods Who doesn't like salty food? Everyone does, right? But didn't you know? Salty food draws the moisture our of your lips, keeping them flaky and dry, and you don't want that, of course.
Tips: Apply a waxy balm or petrolatum ointment to protect your lips before chowing down.

Dehydration Duh. You can tell your body is dehydrated when you have chapped lips. You lose more water through your lips than on any other part of your body. Fascinating.
Tips: Easy. Drink a few glasses of water to replenish some of your body's store of water!

Toothpaste Believe it or not, many types of toothpaste are made with sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), an ingredient that can lead to dry, chapped lips.
Tips: Use an SLS-free toothpaste like Kiss My Face Triple Action Toothpaste, Jason Sea Fresh Toothpaste, Jack 'N Jill Natural Toothpaste, or even Verve Ultra.

Matte lipstick If you don't use it, good for you. You won't be experiencing as many chapped lips as those who do use matte lipstick. Reason: wearing matte lipstick regularly can sap your lips of their natural moisture.
Tips: Choose your lipstick brands and types carefully. Of course, you can still use matte lipstick, but do bear in mind to use it only when you really need it, and not everyday.

Lip balm Here's something we didn't know at first. Isn't it ironic? Lip balm is supposed to keep your lips wet and dratted, but it's actually what's making your lips dry.
Tips: Avoid lip balms that contain salicylic acid and menthol, as both of them cause irritation to your lips and cause a continuous cycle of reapplying. It's like an addiction.

Licking your lips It's a natural action for many of us, adding temporary moisture to our lips will make it dry and irritated, and sensitive to other products.
Tips: Look for lip products with natural oils and butters (cocoa and shea butter, argan and coconut oil) to keep your lips moisturized, and after that use a waxy balm to seal and smooth the outer layer of your lips. You might want to reapply it sometimes.
