A Ticking Clock:

Chapter 5:

Felicity's POV:

"Exams are murderous." Charlie said out loud to Rory and Theodore. Rory agreed as I looked out the window. The bitter England air made the window fog up. The inside of the car was very warm. I pulled at the sleeves of my white pullover and looked out the window. Theo was driving me to my therapist, Dr. Melissa Rutherford.

Dr. Melissa was really nice to me, she would let me color and draw in a notebook. She only asked me a few questions and knew when I wasn't feeing like answering any. I didn't have a good morning. I had a nightmare about my dad and him killing me and Theo. When I woke up at 3:15AM, I cut myself. Not as bad as usual but it still happened.

I stayed up until my brother woke up and he told me to shower. "We're here." Rory said softly, knocking me out of my thoughts. I opened the door and slowly got out, the light Oxford rain hitting against my pink raincoat. I put the hood over my head and held Rory's hand as we walked inside.

"How have you been?" Dr. Melissa asked me as she sat at the table with me. She laid out a bunch of markers and let me color in a picture of Hello Kitty. I shrugged and colored her big bow with red. "Have you been hearing voices?" she asked, watching me color. I nodded. "And seeing stuff." I said softly, grabbing the pink and coloring in her dress. "Who'd you see?" she took out her pen and clicked it. "Ariel." I looked at her.

Ariel is a little girl my age; she has long blonde hair and bright cerulean eyes. She's really mean to me, she loves to bully me and tell me to hurt people including myself. "What did she tell you?" she wrote something down. "She told me to stab Theo." I looked at him and he bit his lip. "Anything else?" "She told me that my daddy's going to kill me." I looked down. Melissa rubbed my hand. "He's in jail sweetie, he can never get out." She kissed the top of my head and I nodded. My dad is a horrible man, he's manly the reason while I'm so screwed up

-Flashback-

I could hear dishes being thrown and yelling. I held onto Theodore for dear life and he wrapped his arms around me. "It's ok El, everything's OK." He said softly, trying to comfort me. It wasn't working. I started to panic; my tiny chest was going up and down really fast. Theo noticed my panic attack and tried to comfort me by rocking me and singing delicately in my ear. It calmed me down until I heard my dad yell, "That's it!" and a big bang. I looked at Theo and he slowly got it and opened his bedroom door. I followed behind him, holding onto his leg. There I saw my mum, who was the tender age of 38, on the ground with a bullet in her head. "What the hell are you two looking at!?" he yelled and started to run up the stairs. Theo didn't get the door closed fast enough before my dad ran into the room and gave me and my older brother black eyes and bruises.

-Flashback over-

My tiny body shook from that horrible night. "El, you OK?" Melissa asked me as I shook my head. My heartbeat quickened as my breathing became thin and rapid. I looked at Theo, panicked, and he walked over to me. He sat on the floor near my chair and picked me up, holding me bridal style near his chest. I laid my head against his chest and listened to his steady heartbeat. I started to calm down as I held onto his shirt tightly. I put my head into the cotton material and cried softly. "Let it out." He whispered in my ear and kissed my forehead. We sat there for least 20 minutes, Theo rocking me and kissed my cheek and me crying into his chest.
