A 4 days had past since Merlin's encounter with James. The situation with Ms. Sophie was still a mystery. No one had seen her for the past few days and haven't heard from her. Not even the cops have heard any activity regarding her disappearance. Merlin was a bit worried but did not do anything because of what Taliesin said. Merlin trusted him. Not because he was a trusted seer who served for the Great Kings but because he probably knew the reason for Ms. Sophie's disappearance and that she was going to come back anyway. He was also the only person who knows his little 'quest' and the only person who can give him advice.
Today, Merlin was going to visit Angel. He had put the pieces together and found out what Camelot is. Well, what it kind of is. From what Taliesin had said, Camelot is life and life is knowledge. The only thing that came into mind was school and libraries. He had crossed out libraries because there is no way Arthur works at a library when he could be ruling a kingdom. Camelot is a community of knights and commoners, and a royal family. And schools, colleges, and universities are a community of presidents, principals, superintendents, deans, assistant principals, and associate deans as the royal family; teachers as knights; and the students as commoners.
Merlin just needs to know which school has Arthur.
Heading towards Angel's family shop through the busy street, he notices a blonde man walking to a coffee shop with a beautiful girl next to him. Merlin remembers the man's name and calls out to him.
"James!" he yelled.
The blonde heard nothing. Merlin went after him through the crowds into the coffee shop.
The inside of the shop was dark. Dim lights on the counter and tables, the wall was made out of bricks and had large windows for the outside to see the small room. It was a rather very 'classy' design.
On a table near a window, James was sitting down sipping on his cup of coffee, looking out to the street. In front of him was a woman reading an old looking book, the same woman Merlin bumped into the other day at the market. She looked pretty busy.
"Hello," Merlin said to them as he drew closer.
Turning his head around to face the source of the voice, James spoke, "Ahh Merlin! Haven't seen you for a bit."
Elly just stared at Merlin.
"Yeah, I've been at home looking for something. I didn't know you got a date," Merlin joked.
"With who? That's disgusting!" Elly stated.
"Yeah, Merlin. She's my step-sister. The one that made me come all the way over here just to freeze," James said.
"Oh?" Merlin looked at Elly. She was still staring at him. He spoke again, "well, I just wanted to know which college or university you go to, since I thought that I should try it out and get a job. Also because Angel suggested it."
"So you wanna go and surprise your girlfriend now do ya?" Teased James.
Elly tensed.
"Girlfriend? Angel? Nah, we're just friends. Besides I doubt she'd even like me"
"Stop with the crap, Merlin. She likes you. I've seen the way she acts around you and looks at you"
"Haha, very funny," Merlin was irritated, "now seriously. What college or university?"
"Fine. King's Ridge University"
"How far is that from here?"
"All the way to London"
"Wow..." Whatever it takes, Merlin thought. "Alright, when does your break end?"
"Wait, you're serious about going?"
"Yes"
"Elly, what day is it today?"
"Wednesday," Elly finally spoke after a while of staring, "we still have 3 days until we have to go back and catch our flight back."
"Ends on Friday this week and begins Monday," James told Merlin, "You have enough time to submit your transfer papers, high school records, and all that."
Well this might be complicated. Think magic can fix this? Merlin thought. "I see.. Well you'll probably see me sometime next week then. I hope to see you two soon." He cheerfully smiled.
"You're leaving already?" Elly asked.
"Well yeah, I just came by to ask my question."
"Oh, goodbye then"
Merlin smiled and walked out of the shop.
"What in the bloody hell is wrong with you?" James asked Elly as soon as Merlin was out of sight.
"What do you mean?" She started reading her book again.
"One minute you're busy. The next, you suddenly give your full attention to Merlin," he paused, realizing what had just happened, "You like him."
Hearing those words, Elly suddenly forgot to breathe and her eyes widen in shock. "I do not!"
"Do so"
"You know what? The reason I gave him my attention was because he was actually worth giving attention to. Unlike someone in this very room." She retorted. She basically didn't really lie.
"Ooh, what have I done to make you think of me like that? Actually, what has he done?"
"You did lots of things with that smartass of yours and him: he's actually kind!" With that she basically won. That kept him shut for a while.
Sitting in front of a laptop, Merlin closed his eyes trying to remember a couple spells he learned overtime. Got it.
" Lima princeps schola, Emrys Merlini" he whispered, pointing a finger to the screen.
"Let's see. Capillis nigris. Oculos hyacintho..."
After a few spells he had made all of the files he needed to get in into his liking and sent . Making sure he had good grades, but not good enough to make it suspicious.
"Mitte: discipulo files" he said, finishing up. I actually miss this kind of secret life. He thought as he went for his bed and slept.
A/N: I am finally making progress with this story. I have some pretty permanent ideas on the plot, with the search, romance, and all that. I hope you enjoy it so far.
My team and I have finally experienced a loss in soccer, but we got back to an overwhelming win today making the total Wins: 4 Draw: 1 Loss: 1. I feel so proud.
Review? Keep me motivated and remind me how this story is going so far. It speeds up the update. :)
