Chapter 4: Getting Somewhere
Walking back to his apartment from the town, Merlin thought about the things that had occurred earlier. Him meeting James was a bit to abnormal. Well he did have a strange personality. If incarnations had the same personalities as their past lives, then James is definitely not Arthur. Merlin thought not even looking at the Lake of Avalon as he walked past it. But even so, he said pretty much the exact same thing Arthur said when we first met.
Finally at his apartment building, he reached for the door and looked for the Landlady. "Ms. Sophie? I got the groceries you wanted me to get."
No response.
"Ms. Sophie?" Merling looked over the counter. She was not there. He looked around her office. Still not there. He looked around the building. Still got nothing. Lastly, He went to check her apartment, which was on the top floor. It was a mess. Furniture was knocked over and there was broken glass all around the living room. What the bloody hell happened? Normally her apartment would be flawless. He looked in the bedroom, there was some tiny drops of red liquid on the wooden floor.
Now worried, Merlin ran for the telly. As soon as he picked it up, he heard the apartment door creak. He quietly placed the telly back down, grabbed the empty flower vase that was right next to the telly, put his back to the wall, and slowly creeped up to the bedroom door. He heard the living room floor creak and the intruder's footsteps getting closer to the bedroom. Lifting the flower vase above his head and waited for the intruder to get closer.
The intruder went through the door only for his forehead to meet the vase, eventually getting knocked out.
Merlin looked at the inruder. It was a man, nearly in his 60s. He had white hair along with a beard. He wore a white suit. Normally, men wearing suits would be considered as an agent or a gangster. But this one was different. He seemed too old. Merlin looked around for some type of rope and found one of Ms. Spohie's scarfs. Using the scarf, he tired the unconcious man to a chair and waited for him to wake up.
While he was waiting, Merlin checked the man's pockets. He found a necklace with a large crystal on it and an old ring. He had no weapons or anything that can possibly harm anyone. Merlin grabbed another chair and sat a few feet away from him, waiting again.
After a few minutes, the intruder woke up.
"Who are you? What are you doing here?" Merlin asked.
"You know, you're suppose to introduce yourself first," The man replied with a small grunt.
"You're the one that intruded the place, you first."
"The same goes for you," The man countered.
"I was looking for someone," Merlin stated impatiently, "Now tell me who you are and what you are doing here."
"Let's just say, I too am looking for someone."
"Ms. Sophie? What would you want with her?"
"No, young one. I have been looking for you."
"Me? Why would you look for me? Who are you?"
"Because it has been too long. You have a destiny to fulfill, Merlin. It is I, Taliesin."
Taliesin? That name sounds familiar. Merlin's eyes widen in shock as he finally realized. He went over to free Taliesin from the chair.
"How are you here?" Merlin questioned, still shocked.
It was Taliesin. The seer to the Great Kings of the Old Religion. The one who was said to have died long before Merlin was even born. The one bound to the legendary Crystal Cave.
Now free, Taliesin answered."I am invisible. I cannot be killed by any mortal weapon. Just like the Witch"
The Witch? Morgana?
"Do not call her that!"
"Hm.. After all this time, after everything she has done, you still think of her as a friend."
"That's because she is! It was my fault that she became like that. It's because I had to listen to you and your prophecies!"
"True, but it had to happen. It was her destiny after all."
Now irritated, "Why are you even talking about her?"
"I thought you would know already. Every soul is to be reused."
"Huh?"
"I just wanted to see your progress. Their souls have been cleansed, and reused."
Merlin looked into Taliesin's eyes, "Their? I know Arthur, but Morgana too?"
"All of them."
He was happy. Merlin was happy.
"Don't be happy, boy."
"I know, I know I have to look for them."
"That and also others. Your enemies will be back too. They will come after you once more," Taliesin paused, "And everyone haven't forgotten everything."
"What does that mean?"
"It means your enemies will also be incarnated."
"I know that but what about the last thing you said?"
"That is for you to find out. However, I shall give you a little shove; Camelot is life for all beings, and life is knowledge."
Knowing that, Merlin understood. But one thing still stayed in his mind.
"Where's Ms. Sophie?"
"You'll see her again once you come back. Now, what you have right now," Taliesin pointed to the necklace and ring Merlin took from his pockets earlier, "Keep those with you at all times."
With that Taliesin vanished.
An illusion? Merlin asked himself. What can a necklace and a ring do? Great more questions.
He walked out of the room and headed to his own. Merlin walked over to his window and looked up. At least, I'm getting somewhere.
He smiled.
A/N: Thank you for reading! I am late again! Sorry. It takes a bit to think of something that is meant to be old and make it new. And you know what else makes it worse? A broken hand! Yep, my bad. At least I'm going somewhere with the story. Cliche again right? Sorry, it's a habit.
