Two days after that night, Merlin had bought himself a ticket for the train ride to King's Ridge University in Manchester. He had made himself some money with a bit of magic because he didn't want to waste time getting a cheap job. Besides tickets cost a lot.
He was packing up his things and the things he needed including the necklace and ring Taliesin handed to him. He had an idea of what the necklace was and who's it belongs to -it was his- but the ring; he did not know. After making sure he had packed everything, he went to town once more before taking off. But on his way, he stopped for a couple minutes and stared at the lake of Avalon. I'll see you two again. He smiled and continued walking.
"Hello Angel," he said once he reach where he wanted to be.
"H-hello Merlin! Can I get you something?" Angel replied stopping at her tracks and almost dropping the box she was carrying.
"Uh, no. I just came to tell you that I'll be going to college with you," He smiled showing the wrinkles in his eyes. "I'll be leaving today to catch the flight."
"I'm so happy to hear that Merlin. Which classes are you taking? Oh do you want me to show you around? How'd you know what college I go to?" She said as she put the box on the counter and faced him.
"I don't know. Yes, I guess. And I saw Jamie and his step-sister at a coffee shop when I was on my way here a few days ago and since you two go together, I asked him."
"How can you not know which classes to take? It should be the only reason why you go to college. I'm studying health, biology, and design. And James is taking forensics, biology, and history with Elly while playing in the team."
"You got some interesting classes. I guess I'll take health and physics classes since I am kind of interested in them. And what team?"
Angel chucked, "As long as you had good grades in high school. James plays football, he's The star player."
"Football? As in American football or football football- like with the round ball and kicking?"
"American football."
"Oh. He must be strong then!" He joked. Looking at the clock on the wall behind Angel, Crap he thought. "I should go. I'm going to miss my ride. See you soon!" He smiled at her and left.
"Bye," She said happily right after he left.At a nearby cab station, Merlin called a driver over and asked him to take him to his apartment.
"Wait here," he said and went off to get his luggage.A while later, he came back with a medium sized traveling bag in each hand. The driver opened the trunk and got out of the cab. He took the bags and put it in the car as Merlin went inside the cab. The driver went in after.
"Where to, sir?"
"Glastonbury Train Station."
"Okay. You moving?" The driver asked as he started the cab.
"Something like that."
"Ah." He said and the rest of their ride was silent. Merlin looked out the window a couple times to see the scenery.
After a couple minutes, they reached their destination. "We're here." The driver said.
The station was as busy as most. There were no crowds seen, but many individuals or pairs were seen everywhere. The locomotives looked a bit dirty but still rideable.
Merlin paid the driver and got out of the cab. He glanced around to see the surroundings as the driver went to get his luggage. "Thank you." He said as the driver handed him his luggage and went back in the cab.
"You better watch out, boy. The world may be large, but people have their ways." The driver warned him just before he drove off in a screeching matter.
Merlin turned around, surprised at the 'warning'. Huh? Did I flip him off or something? He brushed that thought out of his mind and looked at his ticket:

Merlin gave his ticket to the train conductor, who was at the entrance greeting the passengers, and looked around for an available seat and found himself one near the back. It was the only seat that was not surrounded by lots or people. Only an old man with circular black glasses wearing a blue knitted beanie reading a book, and a young boy with dark hair and blue eyes playing with his Nintendo DS. "Is this seat taken?" Merlin asked the old man..
"No," the man said ruffly.
"Mind if I sit here then, mate?"
The man just grunted. Merlin took that as a 'No' and sat across the boy, putting his luggages under the seat.. The boy looked up from his DS and looked at Merlin. "I'm Michael and this here is my grandfather," Heintoduced himself. "Who're ya?"Merlin looked at the boy. "I'm Merlin."
"Nice to meet ya, Merlin" He took out his hand and Merlin shook it. "Where ya goin'?"
"To Manchester."
"Woah, so are we!" He smiled and pointed a thumb at himself. "We gon' meet up with my grandfather's friends!"
"Are you now? Are you guys having a vacation?"
"Nah, we're moving there, cuz' of my grandfather's business."
"Oh that's nice." Merlin replied. Looking at his grandfather, who finally looked up from his book.
"Oi, Michael. Keep your mouth shut." His grandfather mumbled.
"Yes, grandfather.."
Merlin looked outside the window and stared at the people. The next few seconds seemed like hours to him.
"Ladies and gentlemen, please take your seat. We will now be leaving the station," The conductor informed the passengers through the microphone. After a few seconds, the whistle blew and the engine started. The train started to leave the station slowly as it picked up its speed.
The station was then out of sight.
A/N: Sorry for long update, again. I had soccer playoffs and stuff going on, so I might have to take down the "updates every week" thing. Sorry :( Anyway, 2 more chapters until Merlin gets settled in. I'm finally putting the real romance once he's settled. Like I said, there will be NO INCEST. Even if they're not physically related (hint hint). So you can all relax now. If you guys have anything you would want to see in this, let me know.
Oh yeah. If you guys are wondering about the title: "Defying Destiny" part, it will be somewhere at the middle of the enitre story.
