1. Nice warm baths with your favorite songs playing (treat yourself to some bubbles and a nice lit candle)
2. Going for a long walk (it gets you out of the house and fresh air is nice)
3. Put on your favorite outfit/do your makeup (if you're gonna be sad, you can still look/feel cute as hell) (this can also give you some self confidence)
4. Open your windows/shades
5. Rearrange your room (keeps you busy and sometimes change is nice)
6. Draw/paint/doodle (it literally does not matter if it's good or not, you could just be scribbling and coloring in the lines)
7. Talking to a friend (I know it might seem as if you're inconveniencing them but I swear talking about it helps - even if you don't have a specific reason to why you're upset, you can still talk about your feelings, you are 100% worthy of care and love)
8. Sit up straight and watch your favorite show
9. Clean (living in a cluttered/messy environment only makes things worse)
10. Put away things that remind you of why you're sad (going through a breakup? Take down any pictures of them/box up their stuff/try not to go through their social media) (stressed out from school? Take a break from homework and do something else for a while) (upset at your family? Get out of the house for a little while)
11. Sing at the top of your lungs(fucking scream, it doesn't matter if you sound good or not)
12. Listen to happy/upbeat music (sad songs are literally only gonna make you even more upset so ???)
13. Yoga (there are tons of videos online on how to stretch, even if you do stretches while watching tv, you're helping your body)
14. Dance around your house (I know this is hard if you live with other people but whenever people are gone, embrace it)
15. Lay down outside
16. Go find a nice spot and watch the sun set (it can give you something to look forward to every day)
17. Do not lay in bed all day (this is literally the worst thing for you, even if you just go for a walk, you're being productive)
18. Take your animals for a walk (if the only good thing you did today was for the benefit of your pet then i think you're a winner)
19. Eat good foods (i have the tendency to not eat whenever I'm upset, try to eat healthy/easy foods that don't upset your stomach)
20. Talk to a parent/sibling/family member of some sort (I know that not everyone has parents that they can go to about things but if you do, I urge you to make them aware of the situation you are in so they can better understand your behavior)
21. Draw on yourself (I know they say this is bad but in my opinion it's better/healthier than self harming)
22. Release tension from your body (try to find where in your body you are holding most of your stress and try to relax it, sometimes we don't even realize we're doing it - I hold mine in my jaw/shoulders )
23. Watch youtube videos
24. Do some DIY tutorials (arts and crafts are fun)
25. Draw on your windows with expo marker (its something different and fun - make sure to wash it off later)
26. Take a break from people (you're allowed to want to be alone for a little while, just make sure you let people know other than completely dropping/ignoring them) (also remember that a break does not mean to completely isolate yourself - people need other people to be around, just not all the time)
27. Verbalize your feelings (even if you're just talking to an animal or yourself, sometimes you can better organize your emotions if you say it out loud)
28. Self care (take a shower, eat, sleep)
29. Put yourself first (trying to fix other people's problems while you are upset can be extremely self destructive and can destroy important relationships you have built with people, make sure you are mentally stable enough to get closer to others) (again - this does not mean isolate yourself)
30. Remember you won't always feel this way (coming from someone who tends to have suicidal thoughts, it's important to know that this feeling will pass and you will some day be able to have the freedom to be who you want to be and do what you want to do. I know when you're in the thick of things it seems as if you'll never survive it, but you will)
