Adaline's POV: I pushed open the front doors and saw everybody staring at me. I wasn't surprised, knowing that this was already going to happen. So I put my attention on the floor and started pushing my feet to move forward. As I walked closer to my first class, I heard a girl whisper to her friend, "Omg! Is that who I think it is? She is such a slut!" She said, giving me a glare as I walked by. All of the girls were giving me glares while the boys were giving me looks of lust and hunger. I walked faster, hoping to escape everyone's stares. I was still staring at the ground when I bumped into a wall and started falling. I was waiting for the impact, but when I closed my eyes, I didn't hit the ground. I opened one eye cautiously, to see if God was playing a trick on me. I looked in front of me to see hazel brown eyes. They looked familiar. "Jack? What are you doing here?" I said, confused. "Oh, I don't know, SAVING YOUR LIFE? You should be thanking me." Jack said, smirking. I rolled my eyes and stood up. I crossed my arms. "You can't die from falling." I pointed out. He shrugged and I rolled my eyes again. I picked up my bag and looked around me to see everyone staring at us with widened eyes and gaping mouths. "What are they staring at?" I whispered to Jack. "Is there something on my face?" I said nervously, touching my face. Jack chuckled, "They're looking at you!" "Me? Why would they be looking at me?" I said, confusedly. "Cause you're talking to me." He smirked. "Why? You're not special." I said. He pouted. "Well I happen to think I'm special." He said. "And I'm not known for talking to people other than my friends." He said. "Well that makes more sense." I said. "Well, I'm heading to class, see ya!" I said to Jack, waving before walking inside Mr. Bell's classroom. Since I was 5 minutes early, I picked a empty seat to sit on and took a book out of my bag. It was called Turtle In Paradise. Turtle's mother has a job as a housekeeper in a house that doesn't allow kids, so Turtle goes to live with her overworked aunt and hilariously sassy cousins for a while. The cousins, a passel of boys, run a babysitting service, using their secret diaper rash formula as they work for candy. (Comment below if you read this book and loved it!) So far I was on page 169 and had so many questions. But before I could read more to find out the answers to those questions, the bell rang and large groups of students rushed into the tiny and crowded classroom. I put my book away, and doodled on my notebook, not paying attention to what the teacher was saying. "Ok class, I will take attendance now. Avery? Here. Aidan? Here. Brandon? Here." And so on. I was doodling a flower when someone tapped my shoulder. I looked up. "Yes?" I asked. "Pay more attention next time Adaline, I was calling your name three times. Next time, it's a detention." Mr. Bell warned me. I nodded my head vigorously. I put away my notebook and paid attention to Mr. Bell. "Can anyone tell me what the square root of blah blah is?" "Yes, Valerie?" "The square root of blah blah is blah blah." Before Mr. Bell could reply, the bell rang, dismissing everyone from class. I ran out of there as fast as I could, going to my locker. I got to my locker and saw Will blocking it. He smiled as I approached him. I gave him a fake smile back. "I see you've changed." Will says, eyeing me up and down. "Did you do it for me?" He asked. "As if." I said, rolling my eyes. I pushed him off my locker and got my stuff. I closed my locker, ignoring Will's stare on me and walked away.

I walked to my car, my mom texting me to remember about having dinner with the Miller's. Then I remembered who the Miller's were. I gasped. "Not him!" I groaned. We were having dinner with....Jack. Now that I knew Jack was going to be there, I despised going home. I arrived home in a matter of minutes and opened the door. I rushed up the stairs, into the bathroom, and turned on the shower. I was washing my hair when I remembered about the dream I had last night. It was more than weird and freaked me out. Maybe I'm like Raven Baxter and can predict upcoming events. I smiled to myself. That would be super cool if I had a superpower like that. Hmm, what should my superhero name be? Ooh, how about Vibe? Nah, too simple! Maybe Rewind? I snapped out of my thoughts and stepped out of the shower. I grimaced, my hands were all wet and pruny. I wrapped a towel around my body and went inside my room. Locking the door, I decided on what to wear. Well, this is a dinner with the Miller's, and they're rich, so I should dress formally. I decide on a one shoulder black dress with black pumps. I put my hair in a ponytail then curled it, and put hairspray on my head, giving it more volume. Lastly I did my makeup, I put on gold eyeshadow, false eyelashes, and plum-colored lipstick. I stared at myself in the mirror, looking at my reflection. I looked unrecognizable, and I don't want to sound narcissistic but, if I do say so myself, I looked pretty hot.

I heard a knock on my door. "Yes?" I asked, walking over to the door and unlocking it. My mom came in. "Oh honey! You look gorgeous! I didn't even know you had this dress!" She squealed. I blushed. "Thanks mom! You look lovely too! And I got the dress from, uh, a friend." I smiled nervously. She looked at me happily. "Do I happen to know this, friend of yours?" She said. Before I replied, the doorbell rang. We both jumped up in alarm and she quickly straightened her dress. "I guess the Miller's are early!" She smiled. "Well, come down when you are ready!" She said, closing my bedroom door. I sighed, I looked in the mirror touching up my hair and makeup. I took a deep breath, smoothed out the wrinkles and folds in my dress, and grabbed my phone before heading out of my room. I looked to my left, while walking down the stairs, gazing at all of the Miller's seated at the dining room table talking with my mother. I got to the dining room and took a seat in front of Jack and sat down. "Ruby, Fernando, I'd like you to meet my daughter, Adaline." My mom said, pointing at me. "It's lovely to meet you." Ruby said. "Do you, by any chance, might know my eldest son, Jack?" She said, nodding towards his direction. Jack looked up from his phone and his eyes widened. I smiled kindly, "Yes Mrs. Miller, he is in some of my classes." I said. Mrs. Miller smiled,"Please, call me Ruby." Ruby said. I started digging into my food as Ruby and Mr. Miller spoke with my mom. My phone vibrated, indicating that I had just gotten a text message. I swiped it open.
