22. Blood and Gunshot

I could remember that Kippy was so kind and fun to play with. We played dolls, and sometimes playing guy’s game was on our priority list while Thomas sat on the lawn, pulling those grasses, as we played toy guns. I got a pistol and she was the bad guy who wants to steal the money. And Thomas was always the costumer…always the costumer. He would say, during our game, “Bang! Bang!” or “Kaboom!” And she was right that there were signs but I didn’t able to notice them. One time, it was her birthday and she was expecting that Edward would bring a gift to her, but nothing came even Ed’s tall thin shadow. Another thing I remembered there were stationery letters beneath the cushions that seemed unfinished. There was a name there, Edward. In our town I’ve known six Edward and Edward Cullens on the book. Who would notice and care to dig a story?

My sweat started to form on my forehead, my throat went dry and my heart pounded fast/ Kip was still aiming t me like a pro with handling guns. Where the hell did she found a gun? If I would be able to talk more, her arms would get tired of aiming at me. For sure. But I was not sure enough. Everything was full of uncertainties. Even in my breathing, I felt like I’m dead.

I tried to make a step towards her. “Are you going to kill your own sister?”

“I might,” she replied. “But it would be better to kill you slowly like how Chip and his friends killed Ed.”

The sweat started to rolled down. “You can’t do this to me.”

 “Oh yes, I can.”

“I don’t believe you, Kip. Thomas won’t let this to happen if he’s still alive.”

 “If…if…But he’s dead.”

“I won’t believe that you can pull the trigger.

She gave a grin, an evil grin. “Oh, seems you need a proof,” she said and aimed Chip.

“This is what you called you proof.”

“Hey, hey! No, no, no.” Chip stepped back, frightened.

She pulled the trigger and hit Chip’s right leg. Chip shouted in pain. Hearing him made my head throbs in pain. “What the fuuucckkk!” He fell down, hand covering his leg and started to cry. “GOD! Fuucckkk…”

“She’s serious, Meg.” Ed whispered to me. I was in disbelief.

Kip aimed the gun at me. “Do you now believe me?”

“You’re a demon! You’re  evil!”

“Call me anything you want, cos I called myself as The Savior.”

“FUCCCCCCCKKKKKK!” Chip wailed like the siren of an ambulance.

“Kip, you need to bring Chip to the doctor.”

“Don’t worry, he can handle the pain. Am I right, Chip?”

“Fuck you, bitch! Fuck you and your sister!”

While Chip cursed Kip with words, Ed told me to take a move. It might be dangerous but it’s the only way. He whispered to me his plan.

“Hey, Kip!” I called her, “do you know the story about the talking oak tree?”

“I don’t give a damn to that.”

I started to tell her the story, even though she threatens me to stop. I kept on telling her what the oak tree said to the girl, how they made friendship and how the old woman who managed the town tried to cut the oak tree.

“STOP TELLING ME YOUR STUPID STORY!”

“Do you know what happened next?” I continued, “The old woman failed to cut the tree, but she got another plan. She built a large tent, and turned the small town into a freak show saying: The Talking Tree. Five Dollars Per Head. Come now, Come all.”

Ed must be impressed on how I continued the story.

Kippy went tired and lowered her arm. “NOW!” Ed shouted the cue.

I ran toward Kip and brought her down on the muddy ground. She hit her head on the rock, but still she was capable to fight back. We wrestled and fought for our own life. Ed ran towards the cottage, going to save his body. I grabbed Kip’s hair, and she hit my face with her gun. “I hate you, Meg!” She shouted and hit me again with her gun. I heard someone calling my name. It was not Ed. It might be Bud or my Dad or the police. I continued to struggling, fighting for my own life. A brawl with my little sister. “You’ll going to die, bitch!” I pulled her hair and her face was slumped into the mud. “You’ll be the first one, Kip!”

“It’s time for you to die!” She said when she was able to stood, and I was there on the ground unable to stand on the muddy ground.

“NO!” Ed yelled and hit Kip with a branch of tree.

“What happened?” I asked, still catching my breath. He help me up.

“I can’t go inside my bosy. I think my body is not ready to accept my soul.”

Another thing I heard was a gunshot.

“MEGAN!!”

There was blood on my stomach…

Ed held me with his arms, looking terrified…

Blood…

Kip’s laugh…

More blood…

I heard voice: mom, dad, and from Bud...

A lot of blood…

I heard the wailing of the ambulance…

No it might be the police…

My vision went blurry…

“Stay with me,” Ed said…

“I didn’t do it!” Kip said…

“HELP!” Chip’s voice…

“That’s my daughter!” Mom’s voice…

Darkness.

Silence.

Peace.
