19. Cheap Chip
His presence made me feel uncomfortable. My sweat started to form on my armpit and slides down on my side. The Wood’s beauty faded when he came. He’s a fire that licks its beauty. I felt like every inch of me wanted to kick him, slap him, punch him, pull his drag and stab him using the fallen branch of the tree. I want to see him bleed and plead. He brought hell to the place and he brought hell in me. Chip smiled like he read my mind and knew what I really wanted. He got the ace. He got Ed’s body and he knows where it is. I cleared my throat and matched his confidence though my legs trembled in fear.
“You can handle this bitch,” I whispered to myself.
“Seems this little deer lost her what home,” Chip said eyeing at me. I gave him a finger.
“Whoa, I didn’t expect that one.”
“Where’s Ed’s body you son of a bitch?” I bellowed.
“As I’ve said, I don’t know what you’re talking about. I guess you need to go back to the mental hospital and stay there longer than ten years ‘cause you seem you’re not cured yet.” He laughed.
“Fuck you Chip.”
“No Megan, I should say that words to you. Fuck you Meg.”
Chip took some steps towards me. I stepped back and felt the water of the lake. I gulped. He smiled.
“Where are you going deer, I want to taste your fresh meat…again.”
“I will call the police,” I stammered and took my phone. My hand shook as I dialed the numbers but it was too late. Chip tackled me and my phone was thrown in the water. I lay on the ground, and Chip started to give his force. His hands kept mine on the ground like it was shackled. I fought myself but what I did was not enough.
“Ed!” I yelled. I saw Ed standing not far from us with a hopeless look. He could not do anything for he’s a ghost.
“Megan,” Ed said, “fight back. Fight him.”
I shook my head. Chip was in control. He started to take off his shirt and unbutton his jeans. This can’t be happening, I said to myself as my tears crawled down.
“Fight back.”
I moved my head, searching for something. I saw a rock. I knew I can reach for it and hit him with it.
“You can’t do anything Meg,” he whispered as he traveled his hand throughout my body. He sniffed me like a dog. I kept reaching the rock.
Reach…
Chip was now naked and I saw his erection. “God,” I gasped.
Reach…
Ed kept on shouting that I can fight this demon above me.
Reach…
I am not weak. I can fight him. I finally grabbed the rock and I swayed my arm aimlessly. I hit his head. He gave a loud groan. I stood hurriedly and runway together with Ed.
“I’m sorry Meg,” he said as we walked fast.
“I’m fine. We need to call the police now.”
“Don’t call the police Meg,” Chip said as if he heard me, “or I’ll kill Ed’s body!”
I stopped running.
I don’t want to believe him but he said it. Ed’s body is alive but I think it’s dying. I look at Ed and his eyes said no. I shouldn’t deal with Chip. I should call the police and report the incident.
“Go home,” he said, “ask some help.”
“I will do that, Ed.”
“My body is here.” He said.
“What?”
“My body is here, Meg. I can feel it. But you need to find someone who can help us carry my body. I’ll search it here or I’ll follow Chip. Meg, go home now. Believe me. I know everything will be alright. I’ll wait you near the lake.”
I nodded and I could feel the search will be over soon. All I need is to go home and ask some help like what Ed advised. Kippy can help, father can or maybe Andre will offer a help. Before I left I kissed Ed. He smiled.
“I’ll feel your lips again, Meg. Go now.”
I started to run as my heart beats like a train. I could feel how heavy Chip’s hand was. His filthy body on mine and his diabolic actions were undeniably worth a call to the police. He’ll rot in jail and then we can have happily ever after. I could sense that. I’m a woman. I’m brave. I saw the end of The Woods. I finally saw the road and I need a car to hitch.
“Meg, my dear,” Bud called me.
“Bud, I need a ride.”
He gave me an odd look but at the end he nodded.
“I’ll explain it to you later.”
I hoped that Ed would find his body. I hoped that Chip will be in jail. Bud drove me towards the house for about ten minutes while I told him everything. From a distance, I saw a white van in front of our house. My parents were standing near the van. My heart beats faster.
“Oh no,” I exclaimed knowing it was the same van that took me seven years ago. Dick Rehab’s van. I froze.
