Holland walked slowly up to the front door. Winter had finally set in, the night air was cold and crisp. Andy shivered slightly and pulled her jacket tighter around her. She dragged her feet up the steps leading to the small, rundown two story house. She considered this house like her own. Her boyfriend, Andrew, lived her along with his mom. She was never home though, gone doing gosh knows what. So Andy often kept Andrew company. She loved him profusely. Andrew was there for her when no one else was. He understood her, problems and flaws aside.

The floor boards creaked under her feet as she knocked on the door. The sound echoing through the house. She waited for a couple of minutes and was confused that Andrew wasn't answering the door. She could of sworn that he would be home today. He wasn't at school and that worried Andy. She took a couple steps back and looked around her, then back at the house. She gently placed her hand on the door knob and gingerly turned the handle. It swung open with a light push. The door was unlocked.

"Andrew?" She called into the house. She poked her head through the doorway. It was as dark inside as it was outside. Her heart started to pound harder in her chest, she hated the dark. Andy took a deep breathe and proceeded into the house. The inside was a mess. It looked like it hadn't been taken care of in days. Take out food boxes were laying everywhere along with dirty clothes here and there. Andy moved slowly that way she wouldn't trip on anything that was on the floor.

"Andrew?" She called again, still no answer. She finally made it to the stairs and made her way up, each step creaked loudly into the silence. She noticed that it was extremely cold in the house and too quiet. She glanced around and made it to the door of his bedroom. She knocked gently.

"Andrew?" Her breathing started to deepen. Her palms were sweating despite the weather and she was cold to the bone.

She pushed open the door.

Andy woke up screaming into the night, big fat tears rolling down her hollow cheeks. Her hands were balled in fist, tight against her mouth trying to hold in the desperate agonizing, scream that left her lips. She was face down into her bed crying. Waking up screaming had become a regularly thing most nights over the course of three years.

Holland felt like she had a huge gap in her chest. She felt empty and numb, at the same time shaking in pain. She felt so weak, so hopeless, so sad.

Depression had consumed her.

Andy cried until she fell into a dreamless sleep.

The sun didn't stream through Andy's curtains because of the clouds, it was fairly dark. Andy became slowly aware of her surroundings and pushed her self out of bed with a big sigh. The wooden floors were cold beneath her feet as she dragged her self into the bathroom. She turned on the shower. It sputtered and then water began to spray out, steam began to cloud the room. Andy pulled her clothes off and climbed into the shower. The water was hot, blistering her skin, causing red blotches to form on her skin. She breathed in the steam clearing her lungs and mind. Her muscles began to slowly relax. She didn't really think of anything. That's what she always did, kept her mind blank and she tried not to think. She didn't really live, she just went through the motion.

Minutes passed before she finally shut off the water and pulled herself out. She wrapped the worn out towel around her body and made her way to the sink to brush her teeth and hair. She spit out her tooth paste and looked back at her reflection in the mirror.

She didn't even know who she was anymore. The girl staring back at her was a mere shadow of the girl she used to be. Her skin was deathly white and cheeks hollow. She had bags under her eyes from never really sleeping. Her green eyes were lifeless, her hair was a curly mess down to her boney hips. She was all skin and bones. She used to be so curvy and busty. Andy never really had an appetite anymore, it was a struggle to even really eat. She forced herself though.

Andy looked away from the mirror and walked back into her bedroom. The room was plain and bare, empty. Nothing was left to even leave reminders of him.

She pulled on some clothes, not really paying attention to what she put on. Andy then walked down the hallway an into the kitchen. Her mom was at work, no one was home besides Andy. She had an older brother, Elliot, that lived thirty minutes from home. He was only three years older than Andy.

Andy turned on the coffee pot and looked out the window. It was raining outside, it always rained. Washington was a green place, surrounded by forest and always cover by gloomy clouds. It was beautiful.

Andy drank her coffee. When she was finished, she put the mug in the sink. Then Andy grabbed her car keys and bag. She walked outside and locked the door behind her. It was now lightly sprinkling outside. She breathed in the fresh air as she trudged to her beat up car. She watched her step, careful not to slip on any water. She climbed into the car and started it. The engine roared to life. She cranked the heat on and pulled out of the driveway.

It was a fairly small town. Big enough to where Andy didn't know everyone but small enough to where there wasn't many locations to go to. There was the local library, some small cafés, some local stores and a few parks.

Every Wednesday her mother made her attend a meeting with a therapist. She parked her car into the parking lot and walked into the small building to the front desk. The receptionist was busy typing away on her computer.

Andy cleared her throat, the women glanced up. The woman, Carol, picked up the phone and dialed a number. "Hello, Dr. Edmund? Hollands here to see you. Alright, I'll send her right in." She hung up the phone and motioned Andy to walk down the hallway. The place was colorful and was meant to radiate 'positive' feelings. She knocked gently on the door.

"Come in," a male voice said. Andy walked in and sat on her usual couch. And as usual she didn't say anything worth talking about.

Once the hour was up she was off to the library.

She loved books. She could escape to another world and not be Andy for a while, which was nice. She breathed in the familiar musky smell of the books and wandered through the isles, looking for something to read. The place was fairly vacant except for the librarian and a few lone people. Andy came to the library often. She grabbed a couple of books that she had read many times before. She checked out the books and left.

She spent most of her afternoon reading.

Like everyday it passed like a blur and easily forgotten the next.

Okay! I've rewritten this chapter many times because I didn't really know how to start it. I'm sorry it took so long and I know it isn't much but it starts the story. The chapters, I promise, will start to get longer.

Alright! A few things! Alice's name was changed to holland, Andy for short. She lives in Washington! Also Andrew didn't die the same way. She has a mom, no dad and an older brother. She's 18 and no longer in high school because she graduated the year before!

I really hope you guys continue to read! Thank you so much for the support!
