After going through her schedule for day one with Mr. Malik, Holly was left to find her own way to her cabin. By the looks of the cabins, they were made out of a thick tent-type material, held together by timber. From what Mr. Malik told her, Holly's cabin was number 27 and was at the end of one of the rows. The thing was, Holly couldn't see any numbers on the cabins. She was about to go back to the office when a voice startled her.

"Can I help you?"

Holly turned around to see a tall boy standing in front of her. He must have been a few years older than Holly but he was dressed in a green military uniform so she guessed he was a cadet too. He had a tanned complexion and black hair which was molded into a smooth quiff. His eyes were bold and brown, with specks of hazel in them. Holly had to stop herself from drowning in them. He was only a couple of inches taller than Holly and had a grin on his face as he looked down at her. Holly had a feeling she had seen him before, but she shook it off.

"Um, I'm fine, thank you," Holly replied, not wanting help from a stranger no matter how attractive they were.

"You sure? 'Cause you seem kind of lost," the stranger smirked.

Before Holly could answer, he continued.

"I'm Zayn," he greeted, holding out his hand for Holly to shake.

Holly grasped his hand and couldn't help but realise how comforting his big hands were around her small ones.

"I'm Holly. Holly Withers."

"Oh, you're that new girl from America."

"Yeah, how did you know?" Holly asked.

"News spreads fast around here," Zayn replied, flashing another grin in her direction.

"Oh,” stuttered Holly as she tried not to dribble.

"So are you lost?" he asked again, already knowing the answer.

Holly just blushed and nodded, looking at her dirty boots.

"Would you like me to show you around?"

"Are you sure? I wouldn't want to get you in trouble or anything," Holly said quietly.

"Nah, I'll be alright," Zayn shrugged.

"Ok then. Um, my cabin number is 27."

"Oh, right next to mine," Zayn smiled. "The end cabins are always the best. Right next to the lake."

Holly nodded even though she had no idea what was so good about a lake.

"How about we drop your things off in your cabin and then I can give you a quick tour of this place?"

"Sounds good."

Holly was pleased to know that her cabin wasn't far off from where she was. After dropping her things off in her cabin, Holly and Zayn continued down the path to the lake.

"Where is everyone?" Holly questioned.

"In the training centre on the other side of the lake. I think it's an assembly or something."

"Shouldn't you be there then?"

"I'm sure one of my friends will fill me in."

"Ok. So um, where are we going first?"

"The lake."

There was a comfortable silence in the air as the pair made their journey down a slight slope to the big pool of water.

"This is Lake Ice. It's called Ice because in Winter, it totally freezes up and doesn't thaw out until mid-spring. Sometimes we're allowed to go swimming if the water's warm enough, but other times it's just a nice hang out," Zayn explained.
