-HOLLY-
“Grossest thing you have ever done?” Zayn grinned, as we walked side by side towards the lake.
This was his fourth question. So far he had gone with simple questions, asking me what my favourite colour, food and hobbies were. I replied with simple answers, blue, noodles and being lazy. Zayn made a comment on each of these, but I didn’t let down my guard as I knew the tougher questions were to come.
“Um,” I paused, thinking. “In fifth grade my best friend dared me to eat a worm in front of the entire grade.”
“Did you?” exclaimed Zayn, shaking his head with laughter, clearly trying to picture me eating a worm.
“I put half of it in my mouth before spitting it out. It was disgusting,” I shivered at the memory of the long wriggling worm dangling above my face.
“As revolting as that is, I am oddly impressed,” Zayn nodded, still chuckling.
“I am quite impressive, if I do say so myself,” I said smugly, laughing along.
“Ok next,” he said. “What do you think of me?”
“I think you are a stalker who is too curious for his own good.”
Zayn just raised his eyebrows.
“What?”
“Be serious, please.”
“Fine,” I rolled my eyes before clearing my throat and hesitating. “In all honestly Zayn, we only met yesterday and so I can’t say much but so far I think you’re pretty cool. And please, don’t let this get to your head but I think we could be good friends.”
I noticed Zayn trying to hide a smile before failing terribly. “Cool, yeah, I well... thanks,” he grinned.
“Next!” I said quickly.
“Have you ever been in love?” Zayn asked, a serious expression crossing his face.
“No,” I replied honestly, shrugging. I had never really bothered with boys and neither had Taylor. We both just stuck with each other and that was all we ever needed.
“Really? I would have thought... never mind,” Zayn quickly shook his head before moving on. “What do you miss the most about home?”
I sighed, forcing myself not to get emotional. Usually, I would never play these sort of games for the pure reason that the questions always end up either personal, or sexual. I wasn’t comfortable with either of those and so I surprised myself when I answered Zayn’s question without over-thinking it. “My Aunt Mildra.”
“What about your parents? What are they like?”
My body tensed up for a second as I tried to decide whether to let Zayn in or not.
“I, um,” I hesitated. “I never met them. Well, I did but I don’t remember. They, er, they dropped me off at my Aunt’s house one evening and never came back. I was a week old.”
I could feel Zayn’s stare, hard on the side on my face. I picked up my pace, wanting this game to be over already now that I had just revealed something that nobody besides my aunt and Taylor knew. Not having parents never really bothered me, except on days like father’s day and mother’s day. I never really thought about it and Aunt Mildra knew better than to bring it up. Telling Zayn felt good, in a weird way, and it made me feel like I could trust him a little bit more.
I could see Zayn was struggling for words and the last thing I wanted from him was pity.
“It’s fine, you don’t need to say anything,” I mumbled quietly, hoping he would just hurry up and ask the next question already.
“I’m sorry.”
I just shrugged. “Next question. Oh, and make it good because you only have two questions left.”
“Hm,” Zayn thought for a minute before grinning. “Do you find me attractive?”
I looked at Zayn who was grinning cockily at me. I knew I could not go with the truth on this one or I would never live it down.
“Nope,” I smiled, popping the ‘p’ and looking him straight in the eye.
Zayn’s bright smile faded as he looked at me with a shocked expression.
“But –”
“Last question,” I interrupted with a smirk.
Zayn let out a huff and crossed his arms. “Have you lied about any of your answers?”
“Yes,” I answered, hoping Zayn didn’t figure out which one.
Luckily for me, the lunch bell rang loud and clear across the grounds, forcing Zayn and I to end our journey there.
“I better get back to my cabin so I can meet up with Abigail,” I said awkwardly. God, I was so bad at socializing.
“Ok,” he nodded, shoving his hands in his pockets.
“Well, I guess I’ll see you later.” I started to turn around and walk back to my cabin before Zayn’s voice called me back.
“Holly, wait.” Zayn reached out and grabbed my arm, causing me to face him again.
His warm hand sent tingles up my arm and much to my dismay, he took it off once he had my attention once more.
“About your parents-”
“Seriously, don’t worry about it Zayn, it’s fine,” I interrupted, raising my hands to try show him that I just wanted to drop the subject.
“Yeah I know, I just... I just wanted to say that it’s their loss, not yours.” With that Zayn gave me a small smile before turning around and heading towards the dining hall.
I stood there, frozen for a few seconds before people began to arrive back from training. I quickly ran back to my cabin, rushing inside and sitting on the edge of my bed. I didn’t know how to feel about my time with Zayn. I didn’t want it to end, and that thought frightened me. I didn’t like feeling dependant on one person especially if I had only met that person the day before. But I had to admit to myself that I liked talking to Zayn a lot and I was a bit disappointed considering I didn’t get to ask him anything.
Next time, I promised myself.

A/N: If you didn't notice this chapter is a bit different to the others since it is written from Holly's POV. I thought I would change it up a bit and give you a bit more of an insight into her life. I promise the next few chapters will bring lots of drama and action so remember to vote! It only takes a second and gives me motivation to update quicker.
Also, happy (late) new year!
