The Monsters That Lurk Within Willow Forest: Book 1: The Chosen One

Chapter 1: The Beginning

Brittany was sitting in her chair bored out of her mind. The Science teacher Mr. Johnson was talking about cells in the front of the class. Brittany was pretending that she was actually paying attention, but her thoughts were really elsewhere. She was thinking about her family at a time like this. Her mother and father were divorced, her brothers and sisters were mental, and her grandparents that lived with her were drunk. She was the only person in her whole family that was actually normal, and nothing was wrong with her. She always prayed that her family would get better after a time, but now she has given up. Mr. Johnson told the whole class he was getting ready to ask questions now, but Brittany didn't hear him over her daydreaming. Mr Johnson asked each individual student a question about the lesson that day. When he finally came to Brittany in the back of the class. "Miss Bailey this is a Science class not a daydreaming class." "Now since you have listened so carefully, here is my question to you." "What is the largest cell in our body?" Brittany thought very hard about this question. "I am waiting Miss Bailey," said Mr. Johnson. "I don't know Mr Johnson," Bailey said nervously. "Very well who else knows the answer," asked Mr. Johnson. William Turner raised his hand high in the air. "I know, I know!! He said waving his hand in the air. "Mr. Turner what is your answer?" "It is the female egg sir," William said with a smirk on his face. 

"That is correct Mr. Turner." "See me after class Miss Bailey." Everyone began to laugh at Brittany. "Brittany is dumb, Brittany is dumb!!" They chanted in unison. Brittany started to cry right in front of the class, but Mr. Johnson did not stop the teasing. Mr. Johnson waited a few minutes before saying enough. "Class is dismissed," he said after he finished calming everyone down. Everyone left laughing in Brittany's face. Mr. Johnson walked over to Brittany's desk. "I know your predicament," It is very hard to think while these things are happening." "I understand that, but you have to try your best to stay good in your school work." "Your grades in your classes will never get you to the next grade." "I have seen them, and they are pretty bad." "Do you want to know what they are?" Mr. Johnson asked. "No thanks," Brittany said nervously. "Okay if that's what you want Brittany then I won't tell you," said Mr Johnson. Mr Johnson talked to Brittany for at least thirty minutes. "You are now going to do three extra credit assignments for Science," Mr. Johnson told Brittany. "Alright Mr. Johnson, I will do these extra credit assignments," Brittany said. "Alright then get home and start on them hurry!!" Brittany walked home sadly, for she knew that she would be walking into a deep land of monsters and darkness when she got home. Being a fifteen year old girl is pretty young, and she didn't know why these kinds of things happened. 

She walked through the door of her house, and saw her family all arguing about who the first one was to get a cup of water. Her family fought about absolutely everything. She walked into the living room where her family was. She gave her progress report to her mother, and told her the news. Brittany's mother slapped her across the face. "I put you in a school that I have to pay money for, and you go and fail in that too!!" "I expect the next report card I see you have decent grades for everything!!" Screamed Brittany's mom.  Brittany nodded sadly and went up to her room with her brothers and sister laughing at her, her grandparents looking angrily at her, and her mother yelling at her. When she was in her room with the door closed, she could still hear arguing in the living room. Brittany had always wondered why her family fought all the time. She wondered sometimes if they were cursed in some way, but then she would erase that from her thoughts. "It couldn't be that, I am thinking crazy thoughts," she would always think in her mind. The next morning she walked to school alone and sad, just like usual. She had another school day with people making fun of her, and pushing her around. Mr. Johnson asked if she finished the extra credit assignments. "No I haven't yet Mr. Johnson." "I will have them done by tomorrow, and I will turn them in tomorrow." "Alright Miss Bailey, I will allow that," Mr. Johnson said looking annoyed. 

"Now everyone get your Science books out and start reading chapter ten!!" "I will be back shortly, I have to take care of some things outside." Everyone looked suspiciously at Mr. Johnson, and then to Brittany. Mr. Johnson took a quick glance at Brittany, then hurried out the door. Brittany was confused of what just happened. She looked around her class, and everyone seemed to be in a trance. They were staring at their books not saying a word. Brittany saw one girl look at her, but when she saw that Brittany was looking she quickly turned back to her book. It was after thirty minutes that Brittany decided to get up out of her chair. She started to walk to the door when her classmates jumped out of their seats and blocked her path. "Please move out of the way," Brittany said confidentially. Nobody said a word, they just stayed in front of the door not letting Brittany pass. "Do you want to do this the easy way, or hard way?" asked Brittany. They still didn't move, or talk to her. "Alright I guess it's the hard way!!" Brittany said angrily. She started to push pass a few students, but every time she did more would replace them. She screamed for help, but nobody came. She started to punch now, and she knocked some of them out. There were too many people to fight. She was outnumbered, and they started to fight back.  Brittany took a huge breath, and slammed into anyone who got in her way. She hit twenty students backwards, and knocked them out!! 

Brittany got passed them, but when she got out her arm was sore from all the hard blows. When her classmates recovered they began to chase after her yelling. Brittany began to scream and run out of the school. Everybody seemed to have disappeared except her classmates, and Mr. Johnson. She saw Mr. Johnson outside on the grass staring right at her. Except it wasn't Mr. Johnson, well he wasn't a human Mr. Johnson. There standing right in front of her was a creature. Its head was the head of a snake, its body was the body of a lion, and his arms and feet were of a lizard. "Hello Missss BBailey, how nice to sssssee you again." "Who, what are you?" screamed Brittany. "Don't be frightened, I won't hurt you. "You won't feel a thing when I catch you." "Get away from me you monster!!" "Oh I don't think so, you see your family is enjoying their lives aren't they?" "Why do you ask that question?" asked Brittany. "BBecaussse I am the one who made them act the way they are acting," The creature hissed. "You are the one who cursed them?" "Indeed I was, but don't worry they are happy of their new life." "No they're not trust me, you have destroyed, and ruined their lives." "Well then I will have to do the same to you, because you need to be taught a lesson. "We could have prevented this if you had just stayed inside." "Your classmates tried to help you, but you didn't lissssten to them." 

Brittany now turned around to see all of her classmates had turned into the same thing as Mr. Johnson. "Come with us to paradise," they said in unison. "I will never that is not paradise!!" "It is more like a prison than a paradise," Brittany yelled. This made them angry, and their eyes turned red. "You will pay for saying that human!!" they screamed. "Before you are one of us they are going to teach you a lesssson," the creature said. "I might start running now they sometimes give their prey a head start, but they don't wait very long." The creature started to laugh evilly. Brittany didn't wait for another second. She bolted down the road praying that the creatures would not catch her. She soon heard them chasing after her hissing, and she knew they were hungry for flesh. Her school was right next to a forest called Willow forest. She held her breath and kept running for her life.
