"Damn it!" I yelled as I fell on my butt and reeled my foot up into my hands.
"Please tell me you didn't just stub your toe on that corner again." I heard Declan call from the other room.
"Shut up! Whoever built this place is a moron! Who puts a counter in the middle of a kitchen anyway?!" I said as I let my pain out in anger. I heard Declan's laughter get closer until he came into view. I glared at him as if he were the one who hurt my toe.
"It's called an island and I'm pretty sure they are considered normal." I stuck my tongue out at him in defiance.
"Whatever. I'm never having one in my house." I said as I pouted.
"I think you just shouldn't have any furniture in your house period, Goldi. You can't seem to handle walking around things." He teased.
"Asshole."
"Drama queen."
"I am not a drama queen!" I yelled as I stood up.
"Oh, sorry, you're just a klutz." He said with a wink. I stomped over to him and poked his chest.
"Just because I'm a little uncoordinated doesn't mean I can't kick your ass."
"Of course, Goldi. Everyone knows you can kick anyone's ass." He patronized as he wrapped his arms around me and kissed my forehead.
"Stop being cute. I'm mad at you."
"You can't stay mad at me." He gave me his sweetest puppy dog pout and I groaned.
"I hate you." I mumbled as all of my fight was depleted.
"No, you love me."
"Yeah, yeah." I smiled and then leaned in to kiss him. He wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me into him, closing the gap between us faster than I had expected. I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him impossibly closer. The electricity between us was igniting sparks within us that I knew I had to put out soon before it went any further. I pulled away slightly and looked up at him. His face was red and he breathed heavily, slightly out of breath. I knew that I looked the same as we stared into each other's eyes.
"This week has been dangerous, Goldi." He whispered and then nuzzled his face into my neck.
"Only one day left." I said as he kissed me below the ear.
"I really want you." His breath on my skin was sending a deep heat through my body.
"I know. I want you, too...but I'm not ready." He sighed and then rested his forehead on my shoulder.
"You're killing me, Goldi." He said with a chuckle. I couldn't help but let out a small laugh myself.
"I'm sorry." I said, starting to feel a little guilty. He immediately back up and looked me in the eyes seriously.
"Don't apologize. I can wait. I told you before and I'll tell you again. I will wait as long as it takes. I love you and that will never change." I blushed and a small smile made its way onto my lips.
"Stop being so nice. You're just making me feel worse." I told him as he smirked.
"Just promise me you will tell me as soon as you are ready, though." He moved closer until our foreheads and noses were touching and closed his eyes. "Cause I'm going to be like a fighter winning the heavyweight belt." I laughed a little and then moved my face onto his chest.
