Chapter 6

I opened my eyes after my nap. Only to hear yelling. "Get off my back, you're too heavy." Was that Jake or Austin? "Shut up and mush." I rolled my eyes. "You need to cut back on the burgers." Austin said. "I'm a vegetarian." There was a silence. "Then cut back on the... carrots?" I sighed and rolled off of Jake's bunk. What? I was too lazy to climb the ladder. I snuck outside quietly. Austin and Selena seemed to notice me but I shushed them. I ran up behind Jake, jumping on his back. He stumbled back a few steps but then regained balance. I smiled and wrapped my arms around his neck. "Well if it isn't sleeping beauty." I rolled my eyes and tightened my grip on his neck. "Wanna say that again, Blondie?" He quickly shook his head and I loosened my grip. He started running around the field. Jake jumped a few times, causing me to nearly choke him. Selena and I started fighting, eventually falling off the boys' backs.We all lay on the grass, laughing. There's literally only one thing that could ruin this. And here he comes. After the shower incident, which I clearly believed he was gay when he said he was looking for Jake, I haven't talked to him. We've been avoiding each other. I still can't get over the fact that he's such a dick. On the outside, you get that hot and cute look but no. He's a jerk. I guess I should talk to him, considering I'm the only one still on the grass. Jake knows what's happening but the rest don't so I have to act all happy around him. Which believe me, is tough. "Hi Luke." I smile mischievously. He glares at me. "So, guys, I have a great story. So, yesterday while I was showering, Luke burst through the curtain. I shooed him off and he said he was looking for... Jake! Gay much?" Everyone laughed and I smirked. His cheeks flushed and he looked away. That's what he deserved. "Virginia, can we speak alone?" I roll my eyes and nod. He drags me into my bunk. "What was that!" I fall back onto Jake's bed. "You deserve it. If you wanna play games, we can. I'm all for it." He just groaned and ran a hand through his hair. "It's not so great when you're mortified is it? Like you did to me at the party? Well, who's laughing now? I think it's me." I know I may sound really bitchy right now but I'm so mad. It was a perfect day until he showed up. I'm just standing up for myself. "Listen Virginia, can't we just truce this? It's not my fault you're an ugly prick." I widen my eyes and brush my bangs from my eyes. "Just get out of here and then I'll think about it." I push him out and then climb up to my bed. He wants to play this like a game? I'll show him how it's played.
