The next day Will and I fell back into route. I'd wake up real early and work out by my self then Will would wake up and come outside. Together we would stretch and work out. Since we had food in the house we ate a good breakfast after our warm up. I still made sure we portioned the meal so we didn't run out of food fast.
We came back outside when I decided on a refresher for Will. He had his back to me when I charged at him. I made very small noises so he could hear me but that was it. I was less then a foot away when he whipped around and blocked my attack. He didn't seem as surprised as he had the first time I had done it, still a bit of surprise was there but not much. It meant he was learning not just about defense but about me.
I made a few basic attacks until I thought he was refreshed enough. Then I started to make my moves more complicated. I started to add kicks, spins, jabs, etc. to my movements. With both my legs and my arms moving, along with my whole body, I gave Will little time to think and just enough to react.
His defense was almost flawless. There were small openings I let go for now and would make him informed of later but other wise he was protecting his self marvelously. Two out of all my hits actually made contact and caused any damage. Even when they did it was very slight and small amount of damage. I kept going until I was sure he was sweating and breathing hard enough to satisfy me. I was surprised he only attacked a handful of times but I was fine with that I was going to see what he learned later.
Suddenly I gave myself space and stopped everything. Will started to come towards me but stopped when he realized I was done fighting. I gave him a short applause.
"Good job. You were able to keep yourself safe and protected. It reassures me that you retain all the work I've been trying to get through that skull of yours. And I'm not wasting my time. I also see that you have been working on your own trying to perfect it. Good for you. Keep all that in your head and practice like you have been and you'll be fine. Go get something to drink and then come back here. I want to see something." Will left quickly but came back just as fast. I threw a knife next to his foot.
"Put that away." He did. "I'm challenging you right now. You come at me with all you have and I'll do as much as I think I will have to, to be enough. I don't want anyone hurt. We are going to see how well you learned yesterday and how well you use everything you have been taught. You get one knife that's it. Do with it as you will. As once as one of us say quite the other stops. We keep going until we have a winner. No serious injuries and if one has the other in a position that would win a fight we're done. Cuts and bruises are okay. No broken limb or too serious of cuts, in other words no serious bodily injury. Avoid fractures if possible some are accidents. Got it, good. Let's see." I finished while going into my fighting stance. Will got into his own stance.
We stayed like that for a while. The wind blew around us tugging at our clothes. Neither of us wanted to be the one to start knowing how it usually ended. The time ticked by not waiting for one of us to move. I knew one of us had to do something in order for anything to start. I took the first move. With my right arm I swung then had my left come after it not making it easy for him right off.
Our fight had begun. Will side stepped my first swing and ducked out of my second one. He tried to get a punch to my stomach while he was down but I spun to my right. As I spun I brought my leg around too. It contacted with Will's forearms. My foot was lodged between his crossed arms. He used my position to push it upwards so he could get up while keeping me off balance. As my leg was pushed up and off I stumbled backwards. My leg came out of the trap.
Now that my leg was free I ran back towards Will. He tried to take a swing while I came towards him but I spun to the side of his arm and brought my hand down on his arm. His arm bent and dropped down. I took my needed step forward and hit him in his chest with my fists. It was his turn to stumble back.
I went to him as he stumbled I grabbed his out stretched arm and pulled him towards me. His head jerked back from the sudden directional pull. I used his momentum to pull his arm behind his back as he fell forwards.
He was in a hold I had put him in so many times before the one he was never really able to get out of. Unlike the rest of the times I grabbed my knife that was in my waist and put it at his neck.
"You might as well give up now. How many times have I got you in this same position?" I taunted. He said nothing. "How many times have you gotten out of it?" I asked mockingly. The answer was none.
Suddenly his free elbow came out from his side. I noticed it in time to move closer to his other side. As he tried to retract it I dropped my knife to grab it and put it behind his back. I changed the position I had him in. Now I had my arms under his and around and had them up in the air behind his back. I then I put my forearms on his shoulders and placed my hand on the back of his neck. Even for me being smaller then him I got him into the position pretty easily. It was a good headlock.
"Nice try but just give up. I don't see how you'll get out of this." I waited for him to say something.
It never came; instead his head came back and got me in my forehead. I freed his left arm unintentionally to rub my head. He used my distraction to elbow my in my stomach. I gasped to get a breath that didn't come. I didn't let that stop me from getting farther away from him so I could get a chance to breathe.
Now Will came over to me but I was ready enough for anything he brought to the table. I quickly got into a ready stance. I spread my legs for a better base and got ready for the attack. A fist came towards me so I paired with my own fist. Our fists connected with each other. They were more or less equally matched so I pivoted on my right leg any spun a kick to knock his arm away. He brought his other arm up in time to block my other kick. I switched fast to swing at his unprotected stomach.
He moved aside swiftly then countered with his own punch. It hit me across the cheek. I didn't flinch as I brought my fist into his jaw. Both of us backed away at the same time giving ourselves room. We were matched quiet well.
Will adjusted his jaw and I rubbed my cheek. We were both breathing a bit harder and sweating but neither of us was going to give up. Not yet, not until we had a winner. In unison we charged at each other.
Will took the first swing and I pushed it aside and hit him in the chest. He didn't fumble back but hit me in the jaw in return. I kick upwards towards his stomach but he moved back some to avoid it. Next I swung at his chest again to get his arm back up. But before I made contact Will came up with his arm to block.
I grabbed it with my hand and held it down as I kicked him in the chest. Will took a step back to get space but I was right on him bringing up my hand to swing. He took out his knife and threw it towards me. I ducked in time then went back to him. I took a swing but he pushed it a side and kicked me in the stomach. I staggered back.
He wasted no time to get to me and make a hit to my jaw. I was about to get out of the way of his next punch when he switched to a pivot kick. I wasn't expecting that so I didn't have time to move. His foot connected to the right side of my face. The force of the blow made me fall back. I didn't have time to catch myself so my body hit the dirt then my head. Then the most horrific thing happened.
I sat up from the ground not sure what to do. I stared at Will who was looking at me with the most obvious stunned look ever. His eyes were as wide as possible and his mouth hung open. He was frozen in his standing position not sure what to do. It seemed like he wanted to say something but the words escaped him. I turned around and brought my head down to face my worst fear.
