Robert passed the Arizona border and pulled into a motel. He rented a room and helped Morgan into the room. She was so tired and fell asleep on the bed. He sat the next to her and placed a soft kiss on her cheek. He pulled out his phone and scrolled down his pictures. His photo gallery was filled with every beautiful shot of Angela when she was a baby until now. He played a video of her first birthday party. She was so cute as she tore into her cake. Frosting was smeared all over her face. A tear trickled down my cheek as I watched the video of her first steps.
She got off the couch and walked towards him. He short little legs wabbled as she would try and stay balanced. He could see her smiling as she kept coming towards him. He was so proud of her. Every second that passes Robert begin to miss her more and more. Morgan's phone went off and seen it was a blocked call. Robert shook her awake as he handed her the phone. She sat up quickly and answered. "Hello?" "Are you in Arizona?" asked Gary. "Yes." "Alone?" "Yes." "Where in Arizona are you?" "Lake Havasu City." "You're in luck. That's exactly where I am." "Where can I find you?" "Patients." "Let me talk to my daughter. Please Gary." There was a pause and then she heard her little girls angelic voice. "Mommy?" "Angela honey are you okay?" Morgan was on the verge of tears. "I'm okay. Where daddy? I want to talk to him." "Baby, your daddy's at home. But he says he loves you very much." "Mommy, I want to go home." Her heart sank when she heard Angela wept on the other side. "I know baby don't worry. I'm coming." "I love you mommy." "I love you too." The phone went dead on the other end.
Morgan fell back on the bed in tears. Robert wrapped his arms around her. "I don't think I can't take this shit anymore. I'm trying to be strong. But, every day that passes it just gets harder and harder." weeped Morgan. "I know. We have to stay strong for Angela." said Robert. "I want my baby back." A tear ran down his cheek as he kissed her forhead. He had to do something. God knows if Gary's even telling the truth about where he is. Morgan went back to sleep and Robert stepped outside. He called up Val on his phone. "Hello? answered Val. "Hey man, what are you doing?" asked Robert. "Going insane. I've been trying to get ahold of you guys because I heard about what happen at the school. Is it true about Angela passing away?" "No she's not dead thank God. She was kidnapped." "What?! Do you guys know who did it?" "Yeah, it's Morgan's old college friend Gary. Remember the story I told you about." "Yeah I remember. The fuck man I thought he was dead." "That's what we thought. He's been stalking for years. He started the fire at the school." "Son of bitch. Is she okay?" "She fine. Just scared and wants to come home. Morgan is just a complete mess." "I get it. You need me to do something?" "Yeah, get a hold of the police. See if they can track Gary's where abouts. He's calling from a blocked number. Call me when you get something." "Sure can. You guys be careful." "We will thanks for the help." "Not a problem. Anything for my little niece." "Bye." Hopefully Val can pull through.
Angela was sitting on a couch looking around the dark room. Tears trickled down her cheeks as she sat the with her knees against her chest. Gary walks in handing her soda. "Drink up sweety. I don't want your mom to think I'm not taking care of you. Real soon our family will finally be together." said Gary with kindness in his voice. Angela just sat there glaring at him and refused to take the soda. "What do you mean family?" she asked. "I'm going to be your daddy. You see I love your mommy so much." "No! My daddy's name is Robert. He will always be my daddy!" "Angela I'm your father now." "I SAID NO! I HATE YOU. I WANT MY MOMMY AND MY DADDY!" "Daddy's right here. Take the soda." Angela kicks the soda out of Gary's hand spilling it everywhere. Gary's jaw clenched as he slapped Angela across the face. She screams out in pain as she began to cry. "I WANT MOMMY AND DADDY!" she yelled holding her little hand against her red cheek. "SHUT UP!" Gary yanks her off the couch and takes her to the bedroom. He shoves her in there and closes the door. Locking it and shoving the key in his pocket. Angela ran towards the door banging on the door and screaming. "I WANNA GO HOME!" She tired herself out and laid on the bed curling up. She cried herself to sleep.
