She planned everything she was going to sign and tell the beautiful stranger next time she'd see her again.
Every single day of the following week Lauren studied sign Language. She watched countless YouTube tutorials and went on numerous sites to learn the language. Thanks to first grade, she had already knew the alphabet and now she knew basic conversation. She learned enough to establish a conversation if one signed back slowly. She was amazed at how short the language was and how easy it actually was to learn if one was willing to put in time. What consumed most of her time was just the adjustment of her fingers. She had to move her fingers in ways that were completely foreign to her hand movements but with practice she was able to adjust.
After school she did her usual. Her parents fought and she left to the park. She spent three evenings waiting for the unknown stranger before she had any luck. Once she even stayed up until 2am to go to Starbucks but to her disappointment the stranger wasn't there.
Lauren sat at the bench by the water for the fourth time this week. She sat almost an hour before the beautiful stranger approached the bench.
A wide smile spread across Lauren's face like fireworks on the Fourth of July.
The brunette returned the smile. To Lauren's surprise, she didn't have a book. She had a black notebook with a pen.
Nervousness invaded Lauren's body. Her mouth went dry and words disappeared from her mind. She didn't understand the unknown feelings. She was good with girls, so good. She was always confident with them. She didn't understand what aspects about the stranger made her feel new things.
Before she could continue her thoughtless thoughts the stranger handed her a note while scooting closer to her on the bench by the lake.

Lauren couldn't help the smile that made its way on her face. Camila was an adorable name.
Lauren turned to look at the brunette. The evening sun matched her brown eyes perfectly. She thought for a moment before signing.
"My name is Lauren" she signed nervously.
Camila watched with wide eyes. "You know sign language!?!!?" She signed immediately after with a wide smile.
"I know very little. I'm learning" Lauren signed before giving the brunette a hopeful smile.
"How long have you been learning?" She signed with a confused expression.
Nervousness struck Lauren like lightening but she had to be honest.
"Since the day I asked you about the book"
Camila's eyes widened a second time this encounter. This time with complete admiration for the girl in front of her. This was possibly the nicest thing anyone has ever done for her. Not even half of her family took the time to learn sign language and here this outstandingly gorgeous stranger was who she had only met twice in her life time, was learning sign language in order to speak to her.
