Of course he won the election, I just haven't figured out how he did it yet.
Blackmail? No, he used that last time. Cheating? Well he always cheats so that's not helpful.
My mind was lost in thought as my parents were gabbing about getting to our new home, the White House.
I paused from looking out the window of the heavily guarded limo or van that this car is and looked at them. My father, the new President of the United States was as giddy as a little girl on the way to Disney World. My mother, the new First Lady, was the same. I don't know how my parents are my parents. We're so different.
I'm not super thrilled about moving from Virginia to Washington D.C. and into the White House. I'm sure that many other kids would be thrilled that one of their parents became president, hell, they'd be happy for them. Me, yeah not really.
I don't like my parents. They're too weird and fake. I didn't like that they boasted about me during their stupid little cocktail parties and I didn't like living in that huge mansion in Virginia. The people they invited to those stupid cocktail parties would always bring their kids who were snobby and rude. All the girls wanted to talk about was shopping. All the guys wanted to talk about was sports. All their parents wanted to talk about was their kids or how much money they have. I just wanted to lock myself in my room and read. But I was never allowed to.
Dad was rich and successful enough before he got the idea in his head to become President of the United States. But no, he just had to have it all.
The car stopped abruptly and I jerk forward.
"Ah! We're here! Our new home! This is wonderful!" My dad exclaimed.
"I know it is, what do you think Max? Hopefully the pool is about the same size as our old pool. That doesn't matter though, we can make it bigger with all the money we have from selling the mansion in Virginia," my mom said, obviously trying to reassure me with a big plastic smile on her face.
I did not need reassuring. The only upside about this place so far was that it was basically the main magnet for lawyers in the whole country and law always fascinated me. In Virginia there weren't too many lawyers where we lived. The only lawyers who I did know were the attorneys always helping my dad get out of "sticky situations." Meaning, he tricked someone into buying or doing something for him illegal and now he was getting sued, always along those lines.
"As much as I love this limo thing now, I would really like to experience our new home. Come along then, Camilla." My dad said as he opened the door. Unfortunately, there was someone about to open the door and they got whacked in the face.
"Ugh, get out of my way you stupid little man. God. The people are terrible in this town." He shouted.
My parents stepped out and my mother stuck her nose in the air and gave a "hmmpp" at the poor security guard who's nose was bleeding.
I stepped out of the car and looked back at my parents as they strutted into the building. I turned my attention towards the worker and walked over.
"I am so, so, so sorry that my parents acted like that. They're rich, annoying people from Virginia and this was completely my dad's fault, can I help you with your nose?" I said apologetically.
"Oh, that's ok," he sniffed. "Stuff like this happens all the time. But it means a lot to me that you're not as stuck up as your parents. And don't tell them I said that."
I smiled at him. "I'm sure it doesn't happen all the time and don't worry I won't. So what do you do here? You're in security right? I'm Max, by the way"
" I know. I'm Mark. I'm just another person in security, no one super high up. You'll see me often though."
"Cool. I'll see you around then and I hope that your nose stops bleeding."
"Yeah, me too." He walked away inside into the entrance, probably to find a bathroom or nurse of some sort.
I looked up at this great big white building and walked in.
There was a huge entrance hall when I walked in. It was really pretty with pillars in the center and red paint on the walls. I felt really out of place here because everything was so beautiful and I was just in a t-shirt and jeans with a jacket on, since it was January.
I think I heard somewhere that there is an East Wing and a West Wing of the White House. Then in the center, there was main part with the really nice dining room and some other rooms.
I wasn't sure where my dad was and I didn't know where I was supposed to be. I figured I might go around and explore instead of going off to find my dad to be his "dashing little boy."
First, I walked around the Entrance Hall and then walked through the pillars to be in the Center Hall. Then I went into the East Room and walked around in there too. So far, there are a lot of paintings and really nice furniture.
I went into the Green Room, the Blue Room, the Red Room, and then the State Dining Room. All were very pretty and fancy. The Green, Blue, and Red Rooms were all parlors for receiving people I think. I don't remember how I know this but I'm pretty sure Mom bought me a book about the White House when Dad won the election.
I was about to go venture off into the other parts of the place when I realized there were doors to the balcony that's in the front of the White House with all the pillars outside. I went back into the State Dining Room and went out the door to see the beautiful view and met the harsh wind of the winter air.
I could see the fountain in the green area, the Washington Monument, and a little bit of the Jefferson Memorial. I'll look forward to living in this place for the next couple years, you know, if my dad hasn't been impeached yet.
Hi guys! Ok, so I really hope you guys like this!
Let me tell you that this chapter took a LOT OF RESEARCH so thank you Google!
Since this is election year, I thought it would be a great idea to have a story like this. As you get into the story, you'll start to notice who I've based President Altman on.
(Hint hint: He's a presidential candidate right now)
Btw, so sorry for such a long gap between updates. It's one week before exams right now and for the last couple weeks I've been studying for them! Hopefully by next weekend I'll have a full schedule and I'll celebrate the end of the school year by writing and updating more chapters!
I am so excited for this story because I live right around Washington DC so it's not super hard to figure out how people act there.
So again, REALLY HOPE YOU GUYS LIKE THIS!
Love y'all,
