Alex's P.O.V
It was now Thanksgiving day, and all through the past few days I've been wondering who the special guest is. It's been bugging the crap out of me ever since my aunt told me that night at dinner. For some reason, this year seemed to be the year everything changed. I'm a senior, I've met two people even though I consider one more of a friend than the other but they don't have to know that, and now we get a new guest for Thanksgiving dinner.
I shake the thoughts out of my head long enough for me to get dressed into a smooth, black skater dress with sleeves that reach about my elbows. I slip on a pair of black sandals, not really wanting to wear heels or flats. I didn't mess with my hair, instead I just left it in its natural waves.
Once I was fully dressed, I head downstairs to help set everything up, since the guests will be arriving soon. I get down there and find my aunt, with her apron on, like usual in the kitchen cooking stuff for today. She hears me walk in and looks at me, smiling.
"You look cute, Alex." She says happily.
"Thank you," I reply while walking into the dining room that's attached to the kitchen.
There's a stack of the plates that needed to be set out sitting on the table. I shuffle over to them, and set them out to all the spots that needed one. After a few minutes all the plates and silverware were set out, and my job was done for the moment. I head through the kitchen once more to see aunt Maria still in there cooking whatever she decided for this year.
Every year she keeps the same main dish, which is ham, because my family doesn't like turkey for some odd reason. Then, each year she switches up the side dishes so it's not always the same, although there are some things she keeps the same like her amazing homemade dinner rolls.
"Do you need help with anything else?" I ask Maria.
"Um... I think I'm good for now. If I need anything I'll yell for you." She says, concentrated on making the mashed potatoes.
I nod and head to the living room where once again, I see Lucas playing the game once again before the guests started showing up. They should be showing up soon since it was almost 12 in the afternoon and we would be starting to eat at around 12:15, or a little earlier depending on if everyone shows up on time.
I hear the doorbell ring, and I was about to get up to get it but before I could Maria shouted she would get it and shuffled to the door, and opened it.
"Patrick! You're here!" She exclaims happily.
My ears immediately perk up and I quickly turned my head to face the door. There he was, the man who was one of the best teachers out there, and also one person I considered a friend. Yes, you guessed right everyone, it is Mr. Patrick Stump. I do something that I was least expecting I would do: I got up from the couch, and ran to him.
"Patrick!" I say happily hugging him.
I know I'm acting like I haven't seen him in forever but he's one of the people that make me truly happy, even if he is a teacher.
"Oh gosh Alex, I didn't know you were gonna be here!" He exclaims back, also hugging me back.
"Well, this wonderful woman," I say pointing to my aunt," just so happens to be my aunt."
"That's awesome!"
I was about to reply to him, but unfortunately my aunt cut me off, "Come in Patrick, the food is almost ready."
I glare at my aunt for being a bit rude. I understand she wanted to make him comfortable but I was trying to talk to him. Oh well, I guess I still have a while to talk.
