Oh, crap.
"What could you possibly want from me Reed?"
"You'll find out soon enough."
"No you butthead! Tell me."
"How about........ No. And you better get to class, or you're going to be late. And it's choir time." I was infuriated, how can he do this to me? Well, actually, very easily. But that's beside the point! I stomped into choir and sat down, Reed sat next to me.
"Hello Melody."
"Reed why I outta-"
"Good morning class. I have some bad news for all of you, Melody is not-"
"Mr. Erikson!" Reed shouted next to me.
"God, Reed I have ears." I mumbled.
"What do you need Reed?"
"First of all, that rhymed, secondly, I was talking to Melody, and she decided to do the solo."
"She did?"
"Yes."
"Well that's fantastic Reed, thank you Melody."
"Um, you're welcome." I said.
"Well let's look at some scales before we start learning the song."
"So, I'm doing a solo now?"
"Yes you are, it's short, you'll be fine."
"Why should I listen to you?"
"Because you owe me."
"Well my debt is paid now, thank you, goodbye." I started to move seats, but he grabbed my wrist.
"Not so fast Melody Dawson."
"What do you want now." I complained like a toddler.
"You're going to be my girlfriend."
"Is this your way of asking me, because you really need to work on it."
"No I'm telling you, you're going to be my girlfriend. You're meeting my parents on Saturday, I figured you'd want to know."
"That's not how people normally do this stuff. And you can't just say that, I should be involved in this decision. And why do you want me to be your girlfriend?"
"You know how my parents are super reputation oriented? Well my past few girlfriends didn't meet my mother's standards, and she said to me 'why can't you get a nice girl to be your girlfriend? There's that Melody girl in your class who is smart, beautiful, talented, and modest, you should get a girl like her' so I said 'Mom, I just asked Melody yesterday, and she said yes' and my mom was so excited."
"So you lied to your mother's face."
"Basically."
"That's nice, way to make her proud." I smirked.
"Melody and Reed stop talking."
"Sorry Mr. Erikson." We mumbled.
"So, since you owe me, you can be my girlfriend."
"No, Reed, now stop talking to me!" I shouted.
"Melody, Reed, go to the band room to work out your differences until you can work it out." Mr. Erikson said. We stood up and started walking out. We were almost to the band room when Reed grabbed my arm and pulled me into a closet.
"Reed, why did you feel the need to pull me into a closet?"
"I needed to talk to you, and no one was in here."
"There's no one in the band room, which is literally one room over."
"Oh, yeah."
"You are so dumb."
"That's mean!"
"It's true." I leave the room and walk into the band room.
"Please be my girlfriend! For a month! And I bet you'll fall in love with me."
"Really?"
"Oh yes, I'm irresistible."
"No you're not."
"Don't argue with me, you know I'm right." I cross my arms.
"Sure you are."
"You know it."
"I will take that bet, what do I get if I win?"
"I'll give you $1,000." My jaw dropped. "My parents are rich."
"If I lose?"
"You have to keep being my girlfriend."
"You know what? You have a deal."
"That's fantastic, but remember to wear something nice, my parents are rich, as you have learned."
