Sam walked forwards slowly, trying not to let the man see him. Just then, a spider crawled out from behind a rock and went into a different part of cave. Norbert let out a squeak of fright which was enough for the man to hear them."Who there?" He asked. Just then, Sam thought, why should I be scared him, he's a adult, he can help." Me" he said suddenly.
Sam then walked forward allowing the man to see him. The man looked shocked." How old are you?" "Nine" Sam replied. "What are you doing here alone? Are you with someone?" " I'm getting research for a school project. And-" Sam stopped, what was he doing? A nine year old boy underground by himself, what would his parents think? But then he said to himself "Stop thinking, this is you and it's what you do" " What?" Said the man. Sam jumped, " Oh" he said "Oh, I was just talking to myself, yeah, I'm here alone" "oh my god."He said. Sam expected a different reaction."Oh my god" he repeated." You are going back" Sam thought for a minute, if he went back he wouldn't be able to finish his project. But if he stayed, he could get help from whoever this man was. He seemed like an expert. He looked at Herbert, those small cute eyes were not looking back. Herbert was still eating sultanas. Ok he thought, he'll tell the man that'll go back but go the wrong direction. And if he wants to come with me than I'll lead if in the wrong direction." K, I'll go back, it is getting a bit late." "Ok,"said the man. "But I'm coming with you. Which way did you come from." "Right" Sam said instantly, the complete opposite of which way he came from.

On the way to where the man thought was back to the cemetery, Sam started to talk to break the silence. "So, why are you here?" He asked. "This is all you need to know" he replied and handed him a small card that looked like a driving licence. On it, it had a picture of the man and next to it the words David Hamilton speleologist, and bellow some personal details. He handed him back the card, "cool!" Sam said."Have you found anything cool so far!" "Well," David started " I did find something really cool, follow me." And he started walking back the way he came. Sam followed, when they got to the place where they met, they turned a corner and kept on walking. After nice few BORING, hours of walking, they came to halt, and stared at the giant sapphire surrounded by a 50 meter drop and lava at the bottom. It was beautiful as the bluish purplish light surrounded them as the light from the lava reflected onto the sapphire. After a few minutes of watching they walked back into a more exiting journey.
