I watched the sun rise over the horizon, the sight taking my breath away. My mind drifting as the scene before Max explained everything to me replayed in my head.

The sound of footsteps brings my eyes up as Alden walks downstairs, his hands are placed in his jacket pockets, I notice the hidden anger in his eyes." What happened?" A man asks.

"That fucking vampire Derek. He's getting on my nerves, if we dont do something I'll take things into my own hands and kill the basterd next time he sets foot on his land." Vampire? Jackson walks out of the crowd and stands in front of Alden." Alright man we get it that you hate them but you have to calm down. Getting angry wont help anything."

Watching this I could tell he wanted to, but it was like something inside him was restless, almost bloodthirsty. His gaze turned to me and it was like the anger was sucked out of him only to be replaced with sorrow.

If I hadnt of been there would things have gone another way. Though I still couldnt wrap my head around the fact i'm living in a pack house and close to my grandmother. Smiling I yawn and run my eyes. Did I not get enough sleep earlier?" Are you Alden's mate?" I look behind me to see a girl with light brown hair and hazel eyes." Who are you?" I ask." My name is Lillian, I was helping with the the vampires that were on the boundaries." She explains, walking over to me. That caught my attention and I stood up from the chair." Are they okay?"

" Of course.....but there was a accident. Alden got hurt but after half an hour he should be okay." He's hurt?" Your a wolf too?" I kind of knew the answer but I wanted to ask. Lillian nodded sighing." Yea, for a human you dont seem very afraid of us.

"I like animals, at the age of five my dad brought home a puppy but he got sick after a year or so."

"Im sorry for that, may I?" She pointed to the chair infront of me, I nod and she sits down." So have you seen anyone in there wolf form." "Not really." This she seemed surprised about, till a mischievous look appeared in our eyes." To help us heal faster we switch into our wolves. Let me introduce you to Alden's wolf, I'm sure he and Alpha Max would like you to get a better grip on things." Meeting Alden's wolf? A light blush rises on my cheeks and Lillian giggled, standing up she takes my hands in hers." Trust me its like were human but big an furry."

That isnt what has me red faced. Nodding she takes me out the guest room and downstairs and to the lobby. I notice the pack members arent here and I can guess the males are probably out in the yard while the females are in the kitchen as I hear giggling and laughter in there. Lillian lightly taps my shoulder and points toward one of the couches where a black, grey and white wolf lays, its eyes closed as if sleep. She places a hand on my back and pushes me forward and I almost fall before gaining my balance again." He wont hurt you." Taking a deep breath I walk over and kneel down beside the wolf." Alden." My voice is calm. His eyes open and his gaze shifts toward me, I smile at seeing him okay and I raise my hand to lightly trail my fingers through the fur around his neck.

A soft growl sounds from his chest as my fingers glide down his body. Feeling the muscles under his fur I can only imagine how much strength they hold. A flash of light freezes me and I turn to see Lillian holding a camera with a smile on her face, Carmen and Jackson are standing next to her." Wow Alden, I didnt think there was this a cuddly side of you." Jackson mused." It seems your actually unfreezing that heart of his Katie." Carmen agrees.

"Leave Alden alone, his personality doesnt matter." The words come without even thinking them and they seem very surprised, more than me.

"Are you picking a fight?" Its Carmen that says this. All joking over.

"No I dont want to fight, but isnt a female supposed to stand up for there male?" I challenge.

Jackson growls and takes a step toward me and I stand up to face him." I'm not afraid." I mention." You should have come with us to fight the vampires. Then you'd know who to be afraid of."

My arms fold over my chest." I think I've been through enough to not be scared of some things. A vampires attacked me twice. I may be human but I'm not stupid." The giggles and laughter from the females in the kitchen stop and they come out of the lobby, wondering whats going on with their Beta's mate and second and third in command. Jackson's and Carmen's eyes dont leave my gaze and I dont leave theirs. Hands grip my arms and pulling me back against a firm chest, I feel my heart beat increase as his breath tickles my skin." I wont be able to do anything if one of them hurts you Katie. It'll be the death of me and I'll loose it."

Slightly I tilt my head to look into his eyes." I didn't want to do nothing Al-" my words are cut off as the ground starts to shake violently. Glass vases and pictures crashed onto the floor breaking, unstable furniture fell over. An earthquake? Panicked voices echoed in my ears. Alden stood up with me and easily lifted my body so he was carrying me like I weighed nothing.

"Come on!" I heard Carmen yell over the noise.

My arms wrap around Aldens neck as he runs with me at of the lobby and down a couple of stairs, Carmen and Jackson soon join us and thats when I begin to ask questions." What is going on? Why is there an earthquake?"

It's a earthquake but something else also Katie." Jackson replies.

My brows pull together." It's not?"

"Were being attacked." Alden explains as we reach a room with a iron door

He carries me in and sits me on the bed, looking in my eyes as he speaks." Stay in here, dont go out till I come get you Katie okay?" Without knowing what to say I nod and he walks out of the room.
