Recap from Chapter Thirteen:

"Hey, uh Vic? I woke up and you weren't there, so I went to your apartment and you weren't there either so... uh... call me back, please. I'm really worried."

"What's this about?" he thunders, his green eyes staring down at me.

"It's my boyfriend, so what?" I shoot back, glaring at him and spitting at his feet.

His hand whips across my face and a loud cracking sound is heard.

"Your boyfriend?!" he hisses violently before I narrow my eyes at him.

"Untie my fucking hands, unless you're scared of me beating the shit out of you!" I scream, thrashing. My hands are currently tied behind my back and my feet are tied to the legs ot the chair I'm sitting in.

He waggles his finger in front of my nose and I glare into his eyes.

"Let. Me. Go." I say barely above a whisper, a puff of breath causing a cloud to form around it.

A laugh falls past his lips and his eyes are gleaming.

"Ace, please."

Toby's P.O.V.

I rush around the apartment and ignore Gryphon's barking as I try to find my car keys.

"Gryphon, stop barking!" I shout, feeling guilty right after Gyrphon's barking stops. I was a little too harsh with him. I scour the apartment to see Gryphon laying down right next to the table, and guess what?

My keys are right there.

I begin to laugh and pick up my keys, twirling them on my finger and petting Gryphon on the head. I run out of the apartment and get into my car as quick as possible, setting the engine to life with the turn of the key.

I begin to drive down the road, checking each one of Victoria's favorite places to go, but she isn't at any of them. I tune my ears to a peculiar conversation.

"Did you hear the yelling up on Carlos Drive?"

"Yeah, it sounded like a woman was being beat up."

"Should we check it out?"

"Nah, the police will get there eventually."

They woman they were talking about, could it be Victoria?

I didn't even care, I was going to check it out anyways, whether or not that it's her.

I turn onto Madison Avenue and rode down until I switched off onto Carlos Drive, scanning and tuning my ears to hear the "yelling". Eventually, I did.

I shut down the car to prevent any noise and tuned into the yelling, scanning the voices to see if I recognized any of them.

The male voice, I couldn't, but the female voice was clear as day.

I rush out of the car and slam the door after me, racing towards the house that the yelling was coming from. I run up to the door and twist the knob, but it doesn't budge.

I curse under my breath and scan around for anything else that I can make it through, but my luck remains at zero.

I bite my tongue and look at the surroundings quickly as I walk around the brick house, light bouncing from the walls and shining red light into my eyes. I gaze around to find any doors or windows, and my luck decides to heighten as I spot an open window a little taller than myself.

(A.N.: sorry if my writing has changed, i've improved a bunch! ily guys thank you for your support and patience)

I blink a few times before I reach up and hoist myself up into the window. I throw my leg over the rim and slip through, dropping to the ground with a thud. Hopefully nobody heard that.

I slither through the house, hoping to hear even the slitest indentation of human life, but none. Like nobody even existed. Like I was in a dream. Nonetheless, I continue my search. Whoever took her hostage has me to deal with.

I walk down a set of stairs, spinning around as I hear a crash throughout the what-seemed abandoned home.

"Who's there?" I demand bravely, projecting my voice.

No reply. Silence becomes my best friend as I wander around in hope for seeing anything. Just even the slightest hope that she's okay. But still, nothing.

I come upon a closed, old wooden door. I twist the door knob, but it doesn't move. Locked. I jiggle the knob and suddenly, scurrying is heard from behind the door.

Hope flares in my chest as I rise my foot and kick at the door, but not even power to break the hinges. I kick again. And again. And again, until finally, the door swings wide open. It reveals a staircase, in which I race down.

My heart freezes to find what I'd been dreading.

Emptiness.
