This is my first publishing on Wattpad. I have been reading TMI and when I found out it was coming out in March, I was devastated but I also had so many ideas about how the story was going to go so I decided to write my own version. Without any more chat, The City of Heavenly Fire:

CHAPTER 1

Clary walked towards the institute, head bent against the chilly November wind. She had been putting off going to see Jace for a whole two weeks. Two WEEKS! That was how long Jace had been in the infirmary since he had woken up. That was a long time for her to be without Jace. He had only been asleep for a few days but Clary had been there next to him, always. But when she was there, she was overwhelmed by this feeling of guilt. She had left the institute after the Silent Brothers told her Jace was goig to make a full recovery. She really wanted to see him but every time she had headed towards the institute but her resolve had always broken before she entered and she always ran away before anyone could see her.

She turned a corner, still thinking about Jace. She felt so guilty about what she had done to Jace. That sword had been meant for Sebastian, their one chance to finally get rid of him and what did she do? She turned around and stabbed Jace through the heart. She couldn't bear to see him lying in that metal bed, knowing she was the reason that he was there. She was just planning to stay away until he was out of the infirmary but she got a call from Maryse telling her she had to get down to the institute. She knew she had to go because Maryse wouldn't call unless it was important but if she went, she would run into Jace.

She snapped her head around, coming to a dead halt. Something had brought her abruptly out of her thoughts. It felt like someone was watching her. Sebastian. But, no. There was no one there. She must have imagined it but she could have sworn she saw Sebastian watching her from behind a tree. The hairs on the back of her neck stood on end and not wanting to hang around any longer, Clary hurtled around the corner and out of the park.

A figure stepped out from behind one of the trees, smiling to himself. He watch a girl run around the corner, her wavy red hair flying behind her. She was afraid now but soon she will understand that they belonged together. They would rule the world together. They were they same and she could never run from that. His smile widened, his eyes black, bottomless pits.

Clary arrived at the institute just as it started to rain. She dashed inside, hoping this would be over soon.

As she entered the building, she shook of her coat and hung it up on the coat rack. She continued to walk down the hallway, wondering where Maryse was. She spotted Church and was greatful to see him. It was eerie in here with no one around, especially after what happened in the park.

"Can you take me to Maryse, Church?" He stood up, as of he had the most important job in the world, and began walking towards the library. She started walking, laughing as she followed the feline out of the elevator and into the hallway

Jace was walking around the institute, hating that he was stuck inside. The Silent Brothers said that he was getting better at controlling he heavenly fire but they wanted to make more observations before they let him out. He was sitting in a corner, simmering in his bad mood and wishing Clary was there, when he heard a laugh from the elevator. He would never forget that laugh, nor could he ever mistake it. It was Clary! He jumped up excitement coursing through his veins. He ran after her, following her voice all the way to the library.

He saw her enter the library and followed behind her quietly . He ran behind and sat behind a couch in a corner, hoping to listen in and figure out what Maryse was so worried about. Maryse had been acting strange ever since he woke up, eating less and always looking at him, extremely worried. The heavenly fire wasn't permanent, she had to know that. He heard voices and stopped, not wanting to miss anything.

He heard Isabelle's voice "Why are we hear Mom?" She asked impatiently.

"And why couldn't Jace be here? " asked his parabati, Alec, sounding worried.

"This could negatively impact his recovery." Said Mayrse shortly.

Now even Isabelle sounded worried. "Mom, what could negatively impact Jace's recovery?"

"Well, umm... How do I say this." Maryse said quietly, struggling to find words. There was a moment of silence that seemed to stretch out forever. He peeked up from behind the couch looking around at the people in the room.

Maryse looked flustered, unable to find a way to explain what ever he hec it was she was trying to explain. Both Isabelle and Alec looked really worried. Clary's face was extremely pale and he could see she was slightly thinner than usual and had bags under her bright green eyes. He could see the guilt she was feeling. He felt so sorry for her and wished he could go over and hug her but he restrained himself. He wanted to know what was so bad that it could jeopardize his health.

They all sat there for another long moment before Clary spoke for the first time. "Mayrse, what's going on?" Her voice sound strained and hoarse. He watched as Isabelle and Alec looked at her with concern.

"You he doesn't blame you for what happened, he actually thanks you. There is no need to feel guilty, Jace thanks you for what you did. You saved him." Alex said, concern written over his face.

Clary smiled wanly,"But that doesn't change what I did to him. I could have killed him. Besides whatever is happening with him and the heavenly fire is all my fault."

Mayrse finally found words. "We found this the day Jace woke up." He heard a thump and loud gasps. He craned his neck to see what was going on. What he saw almost made him cry out.

On the table, in a plastic bag, were a pair of angel wings with gold ichor around the wings. Mayrse pulled a not out and showed it to Clary. She put her hand to her mouth in horror. she looked like she was about to pass out. Isabelle stood up and went and gave Clary the hug he so desperately wished he could give her. As soon as Izzy's arms enveloped her in a hug, she seemed to collapse on to Izzy for support and then she started crying.

As Izzy held her up, patting her head and trying to comfort her, Alec stood up and walked across he room. He took the piece of paper from Clary's hand and read the message aloud. "I am coming. Jonathan Christopher Morgenstern."
