Chapter 5

"What?" Alec shouted back. "Can't it wait?"

"NO! GET YOUR LAZY BUTT UP HERE! We are in so much trouble." Izzy stood there in a state of shock. Her mind spun. What was going to happen? Hopefully Clary hadn't done anything stupid. Wait, this was Clary we were talking about. Alec came running into the room, anger on his face. 

"What?" He shouted back. He saw the expression on her face and glanced around. Not finding anything out of place, he stared back at her. His voice softer he asked her agian, "Izzy, what's wrong?"

She couldn't reply. She just thrust the note at him. He glanced down and began reading. He hadn't even reached the end before his face mirrored the expression of horror and shock on Izzy's face. He glanced back up at her and saw she was crying, tears streaming silently down her face. Izzy, crying? She never cried, panicked or broke down but her she was. 

"We have to get to Magnus! He can help us." But Izzy didn't seem to be listening. She seemed lost in thought but I could tells she was about to tell me something I didn't want to know.

"I. Should. Have. Known!" She said through sobs.

"How could you have known?"

"Through that rune I put on her hand. I needed her to wear it to see if I could give her the birthday surprise I wanted to give her." He stared at her. What was she rambaling about? "I asked Brother Jeramiah and he said we would have to test it. That's why we have been going demon hunting so much." His head reeled. Brother Jeramiah? 

"Izzy, what are you on..."

"I wanted to become her Parabati. We're linked, somewhat. It wasn't as strong as the actual rune but it gave us a better understanding of eachother, like the actual rune would. It wears off in two weeks and I only put it on 3 days ago so the conection shoud still be strong. I should have been able to feel her emotions and tell somehting was wrong but now I can't even feel her. "

"Your linked?" He had trouble processing everything. "Let me see the rune." She held out her hand and he could see an infinty symbol with a horizontal line running through the middle on her inner hand.  He ran to library to see if he could find it in the gray book. He flipped frantically through the pages as Izzy ran behind him. He found it, it was a rune of understanding and unity. The description was short, to help understanding and allow people to communicate. 

"Maybe you can send her a meesgae. It says to communicate, maybe it means to literally communicate. "

"But how?" He was stuck there but he didn't have long to think. The doors flew open and a figure was framed in the doorway. A high pitched scream rang through the room and a body fell to floor, unmoving.

I know you wanted me to update so here is an update. i KNOW  bad update but I wanted to! Both Clary and Alec and Izzy will be in the next chapter.

Was my cliffhanger good? I now have to find somehting to happen afterthis scene. Oh well! What we do for an interesting story.
