Jace woke up suddenly. He didn't open his eyes, but allowed his breathing to return to normal. He had woken up from a nightmare. Jace didn't usually have nightmares but this one had scared him like no other could. He had been kidnapped by Sebastian, but that wasn't even the scary part. He had captured Clary too and had been torturing her endlessly in front of him. When Sebastian had finally stopped, Clary had bargained to stay here with Sebastian forever if he had left Jace alone. He shuddered at the thought of not being able to protect Clary, but maybe she was right. He couldn't protect her from everything.

He felt the cold stone floor beneath him. He still hadn't opened his eyes. He lay there for a little longer eyes closed. His head was throbbing and he could dimly remember getting hit in the head. He opened his eyes but he wasn't sure if he had truly woken up. Maybe he was still dreaming.

Everything was pitch black. If he put his finger directly in front of his eyes he wouldn't be able to see the finger. It was absolutely silent except for the sound of his breathing. He got up and tried to walk forward but collided with a wall. His head started to throb erratically and spin. He let out a low moan of pain, partially because of his head and partially because he was stuck here while Clary was out there at the mercy of him.

There was a soft chuckle. He whipped around to direction of where the noise was coming from, reaching for a blade. He put a hand to where his blades where normally slung but felt nothing. He patted his hands along his weapons holster and found nothing. He was defenseless and at the mercy of his captor, though he had a very good idea who it was.

"Sebastian!"

"Actually my name is Jonathan. I'm surprised you don't remember, though, seeing as we share a name."

"I swear on the Angel of you hurt Clary..."

"Now, now. Don't make oaths you can't keep. Besides," Jace could hear the anger that tinged his voice. "You already hurt Clary."

"What are you talking about?" Jace answered but he already knew the answer. He thought back to that night in the corridor after their talk with Mayrse.

"You know exactly what I'm talking about." he snapped. "You didn't think I would find out? While Clary may have forgiven you, I haven't. I would never hurt her. Why? Who would want to lay a hand on her? Even if they did, they would have to go through me. She is mine and I am hers. We belong together and I will let nothing stand in my way of uniting us together, as was destined."

"She doesn't love you, she never will!"

"The fact is, brother, she does but she just can't accept it. Its your fault she isn't here by my side, where she belongs. You have poisoned her mind, tricked her into thinking you love her, and foolishly, she believed you. I am going to show her we are destined. I will tear you to shreds, rip out your heart and send it to her in a box if I have to. It will break her, but she'll get over it because she will realize that is fate. You will no longer stand in the way of destiny. SHE IS MINE! SHE BELONGS TO ME!There is nothing you can do about it." He stop.ped shouting and nothing but silence was left in the room.

Jace let out a growl that would have made even the bravest of mundanes quake in their shoes and flee. But Sebastian just laughed. "Now it's time for some real fun." He said and Jace could almost see the smirk playing on his lips.

He braced himself, ready for the worst torture possible. Not from what Sebastian could do to him, even though that would be painful, but from being away from Clary and the thought of what he might do to her while he was stuck in here.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

He was gone. She couldn't believe that he was gone. It was her fault. She shouldn't have left him alone and she shouldn't have ignored all the strange noises.
