My heart is in my throat as I see them leave. My eyes are on the glimmering object that lies on the splintering tree. I don' know whether to stay undercover and wait or to take the risk and follow my fiery gut. What if is a trap? What is they are out for me? What if it is all over? I take that risk. Slowly and cautiously I move my limp body into the shadows. My threadbare cotton jumper is providing no warmth. My stomach growls ferociously. The urge to keep goings is like a dying fire; there, but not strong, providing no determination. The shadows hide me even though I feel quite exposed. That object is an arms length away, one quick grab to be in my bony fingers. But that dream is crushed.
I can't reach it, as strong meaty hand grasp on my arm. I feel like a weak animal needing some sort of aid to be independent. I meet eyes with the culprit. His eyes are a cold blue and mine filled with desperation and fear. He speaks in a harsh voice that lingers in the air like bad breath; "You. Forget it. It's over." I can't believe it this is over. I am over. Tears flood my eyes prickling my eyelids causing them to go bloodshot. More dark shadows come forth. It was a trap. The determination that I once had has died; the coals are black and used. I have been caught.
More and more muscular hands grasp my arms and drag me away. I reach out and have one last attempt to grab that object. It cool smooth surface is safely in my hands. I let them take me because there is nothing I could do. I am just a girl who is lost and never will be found. With my heart held heavy I close my eyes and pray. Those same words, which I have said before when they took my family: " I want to run. I want do hide. Out of this impalement. Out of this misery." I mutter those words over And over again like a broken record. Then I stop and listen to the silence around me. There is nothing but the wind whispering and the soft thud of feet on the uprooted path. Suddenly they stopped and muttered in there cold bitter whispers.
They heaved me into a boot of a smelly rusty car. And chained me down so there was no way of escaping. I curl up in a small ball and my only comfort is the small metallic chain that I found. The light is so poor that I cannot see it but I don't care it is my first glimmer of hope. This could be Mums, it is a small chain like the one she wore all the time, you never know.
The truck's engine spluttered and heave causing a disgusting stench creep through the gaps in the floor. The creaky wheels make the effort to move forward. I close my eyes.
