~ Grace's POV the next morning~
I awoke the next morning to the loud ringing of my alarm clock. I held out a hand and telekinetically shut the clock off. I was too tired to get up and move since last night I stayed up late doing research for my paper.
I groaned while rubbing my eyes then slowly sat up. "I need some energy, I need coffee." I said to myself while nodding my head.
~~~"And what can I get for you hon?" The waitress asked me.
"Um I would like a cappuccino please. Thanks." I said back not really focusing. My mind was still focused on the night before, I still was baffled that the government was looking for people like me.
I buried my head in my hands, sighing to myself. I just could not believe it! I lifted my head up, frowning, and stared out the window. My mind began to replay the past events from last night, then my thoughts trailed off.
I was so deep in thought I didn't notice my coffee was placed right in front of me. Thank goodness, I need this. I took a sip and began to read my book for English course, To Kill a Mockingbird.
~~~"Ah yes, To Kill a Mockingbird, one of my favorites." I heard a familiar voice say. I looked up from my book to see two pairs of blue eyes staring down at me. Oh great.
"What are you doing here?" I questioned, stunned to see them. How did they find me.
"Like we said before, we need your help but you didn't believe us." Erik answered.
"I told you no." I said becoming more angry since they wouldn't listen to me, "Please just leave me be, I don't want to be and experiment." I said while getting up. In all honesty I'm surprised they didn't try to kidnap me yet.
"Please wait we need your help!" Charles called after me but I was already out the door.
I jogged down the street hoping to escape Charles and Erik when suddenly everyone on the street froze. I couldn't move either and I knew this wasn't me so who was it?
Please Grace stop running. All we want to do is help you. I heard Charles' voice in my head. Well at least I know they are definitely like me now. Let me go Charles, stop trying to kidnap me! I sent a message back. I was now furious. My fury must have done something to Charles because the people on the street unfroze. I'll have to try that again. While he was distracted I did my best to put up a mental barrier to keep him out, then ran into an ally where the two men wouldn't find me, hopefully.
I navigated my way through the allies trying to find my way home. Unfortunately I found myself at a dead end. "Damn it!" I yelled frustrated. I turned around to look for a way out but my way was blocked by Charles and Erik, what a surprise.
"Please just leave me alone" I pleaded to the both of them. "We can't now that we've found you, you've got a price on your head. Shaw might find you and kill you..." Erik started calmly as he inched his way towards me.
"I've never met or heard of this guy Shaw so why would he want to kill me?" I asked, but they didn't answer my question.
"Listen Grace you're in danger and all we want to do is help you. You need to come with us." Charles pleaded with me.
"No." I stated firmly.
Charles inched his way towards me as well while I stepped back, I could feel him inside my head trying to break down my mental barriers. He was doing a pretty good job since they weren't very strong.
