Wonderland

Moving into my last period of the day, I noticed the guy I had seen only two and a half hours before. The first thing that caught my attention was his midnight hair. He looked up at me and my breath was taken away. His eyes were a cross between icy blue and sapphire.

Turning away, I looked at where the teacher was pointing...

Right in front of this mysterious boy. God help me.

Muttering under my breath, I make my way toward the seat. I could feel the popular girl's eyes on my back. They were probably jealous of me. But for what? I didn't want anything to do with him or anyone else for that matter.

I sit down and grab a piece of paper from my binder.

"Alright class. Today I'd like you to write anything and everything you feel. You have the entire period. Don't get used to this though... This will only happen on special occasions. Oh, and I'm Mrs. Raley."

Mrs. Raley looked to be in her mid 20's with curly blonde hair, and emerald eyes that were almost too big for her face. Her glasses set at the tip of her nose and her attire was that of a businesswoman. Chucking to myself, I started writing.

Where to begin? There was so much I wanted to say, but none of it was something that I wanted to share with a teacher I hardly knew.

Ugh.

"Hey."

The voice had come from behind me. His voice...

It was deep, yet so delicate. That word rolled off his tongue with hardly any effort.

Turning around shyly, I responded. "Er.. H-hey." Damnit. Stupid stuttering idiot. Now he's going to think you're an idiot. Way to go Alesana. Way to fucking go.

"So you saw me earlier." He said, more statement than question.

Nodding, I cocked my eyebrow. "Yeah, so what?"

Chuckling, he looked down at his paper and continued writing. I stared at him for a second, but then turned around and continued writing.

What was his problem?

The rest of the class went by in a blur. I remember writing, but I really coulndn't get the mysterious boy out of my head. I didn't even know his name, but he intrigued me. First he said I had seen him and then he chuckled. What was that supposed to mean?

I was outside now and walking back to my 'house'. I'd get to deal with my mother. Yay...

Kicking at a rock on the pavement, something black in the corner of my eye caught my attention. I looked up to find the mysterious boy with a bunch of his people. They were probably friends of his.

Although, instead of paying attention to them, he was staring right at me. A blush rose in my cheeks and I walked faster. I didn't want to give him the wrong idea.

When I passed by, I made the mistake of looking back and we locked eyes. I gasped and he winked at me. Scolding myself, I continued walking. I shouldn't have looked back.

I shouldn't... I shouldn't.

I could see my house now. It was a sorry excuse of a house. The grass was overgrown, the while paint was dull and chipping; a few windows were broken and our beat up van just added to the misery of it all.

I needed to get a job and soon. Not just for the money, but to escape this hell hole for just a little while longer.

Walking up the four steps to my little house, a sudden sadness washed over me. This was not what my life was supposed to be like. Home was supposed to be where the heart was, but my heart was not here. My heart was lost, I was lost.

I pushed the door open and found my mother on the couch. Two bottles of Jack were empty and she was sprawled out on the couch, half dressed.

The living room was in better shape than I had anticipated. I guess she had taken it upon herself to straighten up a bit. How sweet.

Walking up to my room, I set my my stuff down and venture back to the living room. I pick up the two empty bottles and a few stray napkins and put them in the trashcan in the kitchen. The kitchen was in much worse shape. Dishes were everywhere, it looked like something had been spilled, and cigarettes were everywhere.

Running my hands through my hair in frustration, I begin washing the dishes.

~Flahback~

I looked down at my father. His face was cold, rigid. I wasn't used to seeing his face like this. Mummy had said he was sleeping, but I knew the truth. Daddy was dead. I had heard her and the doctor talking about it.

Mum had said, "I will be right back, stay right here."

But I didn't listen. I was worried about daddy. I heard the doctor say he had been shot 3 times. Once in the arm, once in the leg, and through his rib cage. The injuries were fatal. They said he had died a few minutes after he had come in.

Mother had cried. Mother had bawled. Falling to her knees into nothing.

Running away, I'd run into the lobby. I didn't cry, I couldn't cry. Mother would be upset with me. She would say, "I told you to stay iin the lobby. Why didn't you stay there?"

But when mother had come into the lobby, she hadn't said anything. Her eyes were puffy and almost gray. She was trying to hold it together for me, but I wanted to tell her that she could cry. I wanted to say that I knew what was wrong.

I didn't though. I was only 12.

~End Flashback~

I didn't realize that I was crying until I tasted salt in my mouth. I put the dishes away and wipe the tears from my face. After cleaning the rest of the house, I take a quick shower, and slip into a deep sleep.

 "Beep, Beep, Beep, Beep..."

Grumbling to myself, I turn over and push off on my alarm. The morning had come way too soon. After laying in bed for a few more seconds, I got out of bed and walked over to my closet. Opening the door, I pulled out an Asking Alexandria shirt, light denim skinnies, and my all white vans. Dad's money he had left for me paid for all this a few years ago. Good thing I didn't grow.

Skipping over to the bathroom, I brushed my teeth, combed my hair, and headed downstairs. Mother wasn't on the couch anymore. She had probably got up and went to bed sometime last night.

Looking at my house one last time, I grabbed my backpack and stepped out into the chilly September morning.

Aelric P.O.V (The mysterious boy)

My alarm had went off about 10 minutes ago, but I was still laying in the exact same spot. I coulndn't keep my mind off of the new girl. I had asked around and her name was Alesana. That was such a beautiful name...

She had seen me in the hallway with that girl, but it didn't really seem to phase her. That was pretty weird. Most girls would have been disgusted, jealous, or would have turned me in. I didn't get it.

Grumbling, I push myself off the bed and make my way toward the bathroom. After turning on the faucet, I step into the shower. The hot water drumming against my back felt like heaven.

This girl was going to drive me insane...
