ONE | AIM FOR THE HEART
"IS THERE A REASON you're naked on my bed?"
After a few moments of the most awkward silence known to mankind, Amelia Alcatraz sighed and simply covered her eyes as she tried to make her way to the bathroom. Her best friend (yes, the naked one), however, stopped her on her way.
"Oh my god Amelia I'm so sorry. I thought you weren't going to be home for another hour. I- um, I promise I can explain this!" He then quickly mumbled, "Though it's not like you haven't seen it before."
Amelia looked at him in disbelief. Why did I ever think that befriending Theodore Acker was a good idea, she wondered.
"Theo, I've had an insanely bad day and I really don't want to deal with your bizarre behavior right now. So put on some clothes and please leave my room," Amelia pointed her index finger towards the door. She had to stifle a laugh as she watched an embarrassed Theodore cover his 'package' and quietly leave the room.
"The things I have to deal with," she chuckled, lightly shaking her head. She slightly limped to her dresser and picked out some black leggings and a grey sweater with the words 'Archer' engraved on it. She then proceeded to walk inside her bathroom, place the clothes on the countertop next to the sink and then look in the mirror.
Amelia had never been a fan of her looks. She thought her amber eyes were too unusual to be pretty and that her long, curly black hair was too uncooperative to even have a proper analogy. But nonetheless, there was always someone who thought otherwise. There was always someone who thought she was "beautiful". She appreciated those people, she really did. But sometimes the compliments got downright whiny.
When Amelia was done doing all the "girly" things you could do in a bathroom, she changed and went downstairs to make some food. She hadn't even reached the bottom of the stairs when she saw it. The thing she most dreaded to see on a busy Tuesday afternoon.
"Theo, what are you doing?!" She exclaimed, watching the human catastrophe she had for a best friend tackle her dog, Maia. Of course, this wouldn't have been an issue considering the fact that her dog was a German Shepherd. It was an issue, however, because the dog in question was just 6 weeks old and the image of a fully grown teenager plop himself onto her puppy wasn't exactly what you would call safe.
"Are you mentally deranged Theo?! She's only 6 weeks old!" She exclaimed as soon as she was done prying him off Maia.
Theodore shrugged, "she was looking at me funny."
With Maia squirming in her arms, Amelia sighed and flipped him off. She opened the glass door leading to her yard and set Maia out on the grass.
