Picture of Anne shown!
⍟ Chapter 6 ⍟
Today was the day that Charles came over for truth or dare, I definitely dreaded it. What between Paisley's lack of a filter and violence, Anne's not so subtle innuendos, Elliot's immaturity, Blaine's blatant dislike for the kid, and Hazel's secret love for chaos this wasn't going to be a very simple night. But maybe I don't want it to be simple; Charles should go home with some very fun (very twisted) memories so that way when I ask him The Question, it won't be a hard decision.
"Do you like me?"
"Oh no, no, no, no. With those friends of yours in addition to your personality? No. Plus your face isn't exactly a cherry to top it off with."
Well maybe he'll put it in a nicer way, but we all know what he means under those sweet words spoken with his sweet voice. Internal swoon.
Buzz.
I snapped out of my thoughts to a text message.
Anne and I are picking you up so that we can all leave afterschool together. - Xavier
Shocked at what time Xavier texted me considering he never texts me this early, I checked the clock.
Oh, it was not early. Not early at all. They're probably 3 minutes away meaning school starts in 10 minutes. Which means I was late, terribly late; and Xavier will be mad, terribly mad.
I dashed around the room putting random articles of clothing on until I heard Xavier's car honk alerting me that they were here. I only had one and half pant legs on however, and hopped around trying to pull it up quicker than pulled my socks on and shoved my feet into my converse. Two more honks, the boy was very impatient. I grabbed my hair brush and ran downstairs picking up my abandoned backpack from the floor and grabbing yet another granola bar. Honk. I sighed and grabbed my keys, rushed outside and locked the door.
Xavier honked the horn one more time just because he could causing me to groan out of annoyance.
"You know, no one invited you!" I complained as I climbed into the car making a point to slam the door.
He quickly pulled off, "Oh contraire, Ellis, Charles did!"
"Aw, what? Why?"
"He's too much of a wimp to go by himself," Anne chimed in.
"To be fair, I think anyone outside of your group would be too much of a wimp. No one wants mono, babe," Xavier chuckled making a turn.
"It wasn't even that bad," Anne defended.
"Plus I would've made sure nothing would happen, what'd you tell him?" I said from the backseat.
"Nothing!" Xavier shouted, "stories about your crazy games get around!"
It was true, our truth or dare games were the talk of the school whenever we hosted one. The bravest people would ask to be invited and depending on the person, we'd turn them down. And the not so brave ones would wait until the next day to hear about what happened. However, we controlled which stories got out, if we didn't want it to be known, it wouldn't be known. Like the last one, those kinds of games we use to dare personal things ask personal questions. Like the stupid Charles dare.
Anne and I both sighed in response.
"So, since Xavier is coming, we might as well host The Big Game again," I told Anne waggling my eyebrows at her.
"Might as well," Anne agreed with a sly smile.
Xavier not having ever attended our Big Game started to look a bit uneasy.
