⍟ Chapter 2 ⍟
As soon as I stepped into class my eyes fell on Charles, looking as bored as ever.
"Are we going to sit or are we going to stand and drool?" Anne asked after flicking me on the back.
"Rude . . ." I mumble and take my seat beside the light brown haired boy. Pure perfection. I leaned over in my seat and tapped him on the shoulder, waving softly when he jumped. "Did we have homework?" Pathetic, in fact so pathetic it was kind of funny.
He smiled and flashed his dimple shaking his head no, then slowly turned back making sure to see if I was going to say more. I turn behind me to see Anne sign, "You're retarded," in sign language. We had taken ASL back in 7th grade mainly for the sake of being able to talk in class without anyone knowing what we were saying.
"Whatever," I signed back and winked.
She rolled her eyes and took out her phone preceding to text her boyfriend, Xavier. They'd been dating for about a year now and I have yet to understand what she saw in him, sure he was hot, but he was pretty obnoxious and always starting trouble. But I shouldn't complain because he was best friends with Charles and I could always use him to get closer.
Anne leaned forward, "Xavier wants to know if you wanna go mini golfing with us later tonight?"
"Ha, as if," I rolled my eyes and smirked.
But then Charles turned around over hearing our conversation, "Oh yea, I was gonna tag along, Xavier practically begged, wonder what's up with him?"
Yes, even Xavier knew I had a crush on Charles and ever since he found out he's been trying to get us together, not that I don't appreciate the effort but, he was terrible at it. But, besides that, Charles was going mini golfing. I had to go mini golfing now. That was a freaking given, but now he's paying attention to what I say and I don't want to sound creepy.
"Well, um, I'll think about it," I smiled meekly.
Anne just shrugged and continued texting but Charles kept looking my way. This sounded good, if it weren't for the giant blush creeping up on my cheeks and the fact that my ears were turning an unattractive shade of red. I bent over and quickly shuffled around in my backpack for nothing in particular, I just had to do something to make him stop looking. His gorgeous hazel eyes were so, well, gorgeous.
Why, god? Why did you have to make such an unattainable guy so hot? Is torturing me something you want to do? Cause it's not fun.
The bell broke me from my brain ramblings and Mrs. Tencil stood up from her desk and went over to the white board. She was so tiny she could barely reach half of the board, but of course that didn't stop her from writing some random equation the size of the entire board.
"Do you understand any of this?"
It was Charles, he started the conversation. Oh. My. God. Alright, breathe Eli, it's not like he asked you to dinner and a movie. But how amazing would that be? "Hey, Eliza, I know we don't talk a lot, but I'd love to start. How about we talk over some dinner and cuddle with a movie?" I could just see it now . . .
Wait, he asked a question, he's still waiting for an answer.
"Ha, not at all," I stammer, smooth, Eli, smooth.
I am going to fail this class. It's not that I didn't understand math, it actually came pretty easy to me. No, I was going to fail merely for the fact that Charles was in my class.
