Finn’s POV:

3 days, 10 hours and 37 minutes passed, and I sincerely couldn’t take it. It was almost like being violently suffocated, without the perk of passing out and possibly dying. I kept reaching out for her – to put an arm around her shoulder or twirl a strand of her curly brown hair around my finger. But she wasn’t there. I stood at her door, deeply regretting my over-reaction, hands shaking from nerves. I thought that I could handle it. Well, I thought I’d be able to handle it better than I had. I knocked quietly on the white door, 44b plastered in gold plated letters. I waited a minute before using my own key to get in. As soon as I walked in, I noticed that the place was oddly clean. It was especially weird since Olive refused to clean 99.9% of the time.

Before I could even call out to her, she appeared, having just left the shower. Her long, freshly washed tendrils fell in curls just past her breasts. It had grown significantly since she had moved here 7 months ago. She looked as if she had just been crying. “Oh, Liv,” I murmured, dropping my bag to the ground as we both collided in a hug that was a little damp, but relieving nonetheless.

“Why did you leave?” she whispered quietly, her voice breaking a little. The pure innocence in her voice suggested to me that she didn’t do so well either. My eyes watered with tears – I didn’t like hearing her like that. Not one bit.

“Honestly? I don’t know,” I answered sincerely. “But I’ll never do it again.”

“Do you promise?” she asked. Her eyes were large as they looked up at me, expectant as ever. It reminded me of the way Emmy would look at me sometimes.

“Pinky promise,” I said softly, extending my pinky for her to wrap hers around.

“Pinky promise,” she repeated, cradling into me. By now, my shirt was soaking, but I couldn’t care less. I had her in my arms, and that was all that mattered.

“Will you tell me why you quit, Liv? Please?” I asked. The smile from her lips dropped immediately, and she averted her eyes from my loving gaze.

“Well, I, uh… Long story short: some girl threatened me, and I’d just had enough of work I guess,” she replied quietly, stuffing her mouth full of pizza before she could add more onto the shortened story.

Threatened you?” I asked, alarm coursing through my veins.

“She’s just some kid, Finn. It’s fine. I’m fine,” she jabbered on, trying to convince herself more than me. “Just please don’t do anything. That’s what she wants – a reaction from you.”

I sighed, realising with utter irritation that she was right. It was a vicious circle that meant I could fix nothing. It meant I had to watch my loved ones suffer – mum, dad, Emmy, Olive, Jack. As well as any, god forbid, friends that were girls. “I’m so sorry,” I muttered dejectedly, taking hold of her hand and placing a light kiss on each knuckle. “I didn’t mean for it to happen.”

“I know that,” she replied quietly, a shy smile lighting up her cheeks. “I love you, Finn.”

“And I, you,” I said, kissing her lovingly on the lips. “You’ll tell me if she tries anything again?”

She nodded, biting her lower lip and pulling me closer by the scruff of my shirt. “I’ll tell you anything as long as you never ever leave again.”

“I think we have a deal, Miss Pepper,” I replied, smirking all the while. My kisses were feverish and full of lust – sending her into a slight frenzy. I loved that I garnered that reaction from her. “You’re mine,” I whispered commandingly in her ear.

“Always.”
