"Jada you've been looking at the menu for like, twenty minutes. Could you please hurry up?" I coaxed my friend, resting my hand palm on my cheek as I twisted a fork on the table to entertain myself.
Jada looked up from the menu and raised her brown eyebrow. "You're the most impatient person I've ever had the pleasure of knowing," she replied drily, then went back to searching the menu.
"You shouldn't be talking," I muttered under my breath, focusing my boredom back onto the fork. I held the top of it and twisted the end on the table, creating small white scratches.
"I heard that," Jada hummed, still not paying much mind to me. "And let me tell you, when there's a choice between a double bacon egg cheeseburger and a waffle sandwich stuffed with ham and melty cheese, it's going to take a second."
I smiled in amusement to myself and watched the sunlight gleam off of the silver surface of the fork in my hand.
"Yeah, yeah," I chuckled, watching the reflections behind me move. Two figures approached the front door in the reflection. One was a male, though he was disfigured in the silver reflection of the fork. I could see he had long blonde hair, and a beard. It actually looked really good on him, be damned if I sound creepy.
The door a few feet away opened and my senses were suddenly on high alert. I stopped moving the fork and grew still, angling my attention instead towards the newcomers. Shark, though she had not spoken of it, felt something off about these people. I let her control the senses and attention.
" .. Strongest here," a male voice murmured, very low and very quiet. Hm. "Might be wise to glance around. Don't get caught staring."
A female voice spoke next, "I think I have an idea of who this .. Person .. Is."
All went silent between them, but I felt two pairs of eyes on me. I stared at the table, my heart pounding.
Shark? What do we do? I asked, keeping my gaze locked firmly on the table below me.
"Leave. We need to leave. I don't like the way they're looking at us. I can feel them staring."
I slowly got to my feet, biting the inside of my cheek. My body was itching to sprint out of the place and go as far away as I possibly could, but another part of me, as well as Shark, encouraged me to get Jada and leave without drawing attention to ourselves.
"Jada.." My fingers brushed over her knuckles lightly, attempting to get my friend's attention as quickly as possible.
"Hm?" she hummed, not really paying much mind. She didn't even seem to notice the fact that I had suddenly stood up.
"We need to go. Now." I glanced from the corner of my eye and saw the man staring right at me. He was tense, almost ready to leap into a battle. Our eyes locked briefly, which only made me grab Jada and jerk her to her feet.
"Dude?! What the hell?" She growled, snatching her wrist from my hand and shaking it out. "Jesus Christ, Hulk. What's going on with you today?"
"Jada, I think there's people after me. In here. We need to leave!" I hissed to her under my breath, gritting my teeth and grabbing my bag. "Hurry up."
Her face became serious and she gathered her things, glancing around herself as well. Together, we darted out of the restaurant and left the man and woman behind.

"I think you have had enough coffee," said Jada two hours later, ripping my sixth cup from my hands and throwing it away with the other paper cups that filled our motel rooms trash can.
