Maeve knew as soon as she became pregnant that she had to go. He could never find out about this, no one could. With the help of Lucia, her sister, she faked her death and fled far away. Putting as much distance between herself and the man she had once loved, she, meet with Lucia in northern Finland. Once the child was born, her mother couldn't bear to kill her, she was far too precious, so they did the second best thing.

Lucia and Maeve had been studying day and night to find a solution, and one day it came to them. They developed a charm, or curse as you should probably call it, to freeze the darling girl in time, so that one day, when Tom Mavolo Riddle was gone, she, Levana Maeve Riddle, could be awakened.

Lucia had questioned why Maeve had chosen to give the child her father's name, and she simply replied by saying that she hoped Levana could one day clear the Riddle name. As the years went by, Tom got more out of control, and when he heard new of Maeve being spotted, in Diagon Alley, conspiring against him, he murdered her. Unfortunately for him, he never stopped to question why she had faked her death and if there was any possibility of a child.

With Levana's mother gone, her aunt was all that was left to look after the baby frozen in time. When news of the Dark Lords defeat came in 1981, Lucia decided it was time to wake the child up from her peaceful slumber. Levana had not aged at all since the day the charm was enacted, and was still as precious as the moment she was born. After she held the awakened child for the first time, Lucia knew she was special. However, even with all the secrecy, when the child was reawakened, Voldemort's closest followers, the death eaters, were alarmed. They sensed that she was alive, and came to find her. With the promise that Lucia would allow them to teach her niece, and have the power to take her away if need be, the death eaters chose to keep her alive until she was ready to finish her father's plan.

Although Tom Riddle had become a mass murder, Lucia chose to honour her sister's wish by keeping the Riddle name, but decided to give the child a new middle name, Maeve. Thus, Lavana Maeve Riddle came into the world.
