Chapter 3

Levana had a fitful sleep which was full of terrible images of her aunt being tortured to reveal her location. She couldn't however make out the person who was torturing her, but something gave her the sick feeling that it was one of the death eaters.

After a miserable night, Levana was woken up by the sunrays shining through the window. She pulled her wand out, a wand made of elm with a phoenix feathered core, and just held it, thinking about her aunt, and hoping that the dream she had wasn't true. As Levana gazed out the window and into the bright sky, she couldn't help but want to be out there flying with the rest of the birds. Although she had never learned to ride a broom, Levana was an Animagus, meaning that she could transform into an animal at will. Learning how to do it had been a terrible experience, but after many years of painful practice, lots of visits to the school, Uagadou, which specialized in human transfiguration, and a whole month of having a mandrake leaf over her mouth, she managed to transfigure into a barn owl.

At first, Levana had been upset at the morphing because she had expected that after all those years she would be able to shift into something mighty, but alas, that wasn't true. However, after experiencing the rush of flying, she wouldn't trade her ability for anything. Levana, like many others, was not a registered Animagus, but in her past she had no worry of being caught, for she had lived in seclusion. Now though, she would have to make sure no one saw her if she was to morph.

To her surprise she found that some robes had been placed at the end of her bed, so she promptly changed out of her dirty clothes into the fresh robes. As Levana continued to explore the dorm that she had been in, she found many yellow crests with a black and white badger in the middle. This must have been the Hufflepuff dormitory then. The common room was much the same colour, and to the girl's delight, she found a lovely breakfast had been laid out on one of the tables.

Just as she was finishing her meal, none other than the friendly, but rather serious looking Professor McGonagall entered. "Ah, I see you have changed into your robes and have had breakfast, perfect," As to be polite, Levana stood up and walked towards the professor. She was curious as to what she taught and whether Levana would be allowed to have a class with her. "Usually we would have our ground keeper give you the tour, but he is away for now, so I was instructed to show you around," She explained.

Levana didn't really have a problem with that, she rather liked the old lady. Plus, there could be many worse teachers to show her around, like Snape. "Thank you ma'am, I am honoured," She replied sweetly.

"No need for that child, I have already prepared my lessons and am ready for the new students," She replied kindly. "Well, you have obviously seen the Hufflepuff dorms, so let us proceed now to explore the rest of the school," And with that, Levana began her induction.

It had been quite nice walking around the school with Professor McGonagall, and she hadn't gotten tired of all of Levana's questions yet. She had been shown all of the classrooms, the great hall, and where all of the house dorms were, however they had not gone in any of them. Truthfully the Hufflepuff dorm had been too yellow for her, she also didn't think she fit into the characteristics o f Hufflepuff which the professor had kindly explained to her. Dedication, patience and loyalty? Well Levana could be dedicated to certain things, but that was only if she truly enjoyed doing them, or if they were absolutely necessary. Patience? Well, she didn't have much of that. And loyalty. Levana was loyal to Lucia, and that was about it. She hadn't really met enough people to make friends, but like Lucia, it she found it hard to trust people.
