The game's on the court and the crowd's in the bleachers,
Sal's gonna be the assistant phys ed. teacher!"Daren Archer is a friend of the guy who...well, he's a friend of the man who murdered your family," Seeing my look, he hastily continued, "But something happened and they're not really friends anymore. Either way we've made a temporary truce with Archer. Which is why you need to be nice to Jacob."
"You brought me to the place where...I mean. He's here?" I whispered disbelievingly. Memories crashed into my head. I stood up only to waver on my feet and fall back on the couch. Sal rushed to my side.
"We didn't want to tell you. Dad knew about it and was a little against it. But when we knew that Co-"
"Don't say his name!" I blurted out.
He hesitated a moment and went on, "When we knew that he sent Kevin and Jessie after you...we had to move you. And Archer has the second biggest protection system."
The room was quiet for a count of thirty seconds. It probably would have been longer but I broke it, "I want revenge."
Sal's head shot up, a completely shocked look on his face. John, Sarah, and my uncle all stood frozen. I looked each of them in the eye, "I mean it. Whether or not you guys are going to help me or not," I slowly got up and my eyes blurred.
I shut my door quietly and fell on my bed.
I pulled out my phone and pressed one name that I haven't clicked in a long time.
"Hello?" His voice sounded groggy, like she just woke up from a nap.
"Trevor?"
My voice cracked, "Is Anna also there?"
"Yeah, she's right here, but where the hell have you been?! Do you know how worried we've been?! We miss you so much! Are you ok?"
"I miss you guys too," I paused a moment to try and swallow the lump in my throat, "Listen, I have to tell you something..." I proceeded to tell them all that happened during the time I was gone.
There was silence for a good twenty five seconds.
"We'll call you back when we come up with a way to see you again. Don't worry too much. From what you told us, I think Sal wouldn't have brought you there if he didn't think that you would be safe," Anna's gentle voice came through the phone and calmed me a bit.
"Yeah, what she said," Trevor's eager voice piped up. It made me smile when I heard a thud and a 'shut up' from Anna.
"You guys are right," I wiped my tears, "Bye."
"Bye. Miss you!"
I threw the phone onto the bed and blew out air dramatically. After a while, I decided to go down to the others.
They looked up as I skipped the last step and landed with a thud.
I walked up to Sal and my uncle, "I'm gonna do a little bit of spying. I want to know exactly what this guy's intentions are and all that," Before they could protest, I plowed on, "To do that, I need to get close with Jacob. Which means...I wanna go to school."
My uncle took a deep breath, "Listen, I understand that you want to know what's happening, but I can't just-" He broke off.
"We can't just let you go and jump into danger," Sal picked up where his father left off. I stared at my shoes, defeated.
I heard him sigh, "Fine. But I'm going with you," I looked up with a questioning look.
"But you're not high school age."
He smiled evilly, "Who said anything about being a student? I'm gonna be the assistant physical education teacher."
Uh-oh.
Aloha all my lovelies!
Short I know. Don't kill me!
Sal: I think they just added fire to the tips of their pitchforks.
Of course they didn't, they love me!
Sal: Whatever you say. But I don't know why you aren't running right now.
(From the other side of the world) Way ahead of you!
