"Today, class, the Slytherclaws will choose their seats and the Gryffinpuffs will be assigned by me. This is because I can't rely on the Gryffinpuffs not to talk or cheat; it is one of the traits they do possess," Professor Snape said. Charm and Lillian sat next to each other, because they knew they would work efficiently and quietly.

Unfortunately, the polar opposite pair (Harry and Ron) decided to sit at the table next to them.

Greeeaaaaaaat, Charm thought to herself.

"So today, we will be brewing a Cure for Boils, and I expect exceptional quality because it is one of the easiest potions to brew. I will write the instructions on the board then you may begin. Materials will be in the back."

Literally the whole entire class period Ron and Harry talked; it was quite distracting. Charm and Lillian's potion was the best, and luckily the boys' chatting reflected in their potions.

"Mr. Potter, Mr. Weasley, you receive an F on this assignment. Please, next time, make an attempt to brew a mediocre potion at least."

Potter snarled, "Well, I don't see why we should. It's not like your teaching skills are superb."

Then Harry and Ron went into full out brawl mode against Professor Snape.

The idiots, Charm thought to Lillian. What do you expect? Lillian sighed back. Judging from what we've seen from them before, this is pretty much to be expected.

"I will not expect such insolence from students, much less on the first day," Snape snaped [a/n - pun intended] at the two boys. "Detention, both of you. And I expected more from you, Mr. Potter. I suggest you keep up your popularity in a more respectful way."

He glided away from them and back up to the desk, but Harry and Ron still fumed in silent anger as they packed. I almost feel sorry for them, Lillian whispered to Charm through their connection. Detention on the first day is tough. Oh please, Charm snorted back. I'll never feel sorry for them.

It wasn't until lunch that anything eventful happened. Lillian was taking an early lunch, mainly because of her breakfast. Jaxon was right, she thought to herself wryly, perching on the edge of the bench and helping herself to a sandwich. I really should have had a better breakfast. The hall was relatively empty apart from- Harry Potter. Of course. The boy wandered in, eyes sweeping across the room efficiently, taking in the lack of students. They then landed on Lillian, and he started towards her. Please don't sit by me, Lillian silently pleaded. She took a large bite of her sandwich, averting her eyes from his green ones. Her desperate prayers, however, were not answered when he plopped down heavily next to her, grabbing a sandwich off of a tray.

"Hey."

"Potter," she mumbled through a mouthful of bread and lettuce.

"Look, I know we got off to a rough start," he told her seriously. "But I'd like to start over. I'm Harry Potter, you may know me, it's nice to meet you."

"Lillian Black, you may know me from the interview at the train station in which you defiled me and my sister," she shot back. "I really don't know why you're trying so hard, Potter. I don't want for us to be enemies, but I really don't want to get to know you either."

He sighed.

"Look, Lillian, I actually wanted to ask you to accompany me to Hogsmeade this weekend. You're pretty, and I want to get to know you more."

She immediately stopped at that, eyes snapping to his.

"WHat."

"I'd like you to go on a date. With me. On Saturday. Will you?"
