Did You Miss Me?

Lillian sat in her room, flipping through the worn yellow book from Moribund's. The first few pages had contained a general history, the next warnings on physical effects of creating a horcruxes (distorted features, less empathy, possible death, etc... nothing too bad). Finally, the rest of the pages were dedicated to the creation of a horcrux. The process wasn't quite as complicated as Lillian had expected it to be; if this book was correct, all that was needed was a human life and a precious object. And, of course, the power needed to complete the spell. Grabbing her wand off the pillow next to her, she slowly went through the described motions a couple times.

"This is really complicated for one spell," she muttered to herself. "And who could I possibly kill? The dementors would notice if two inmates died in one week."

Her train of thought was interrupted by a knock on the door. With a speed that surprised even her, Lillian snapped closed the book, shoving it under her mattress before opening the door to reveal Draco.

"Hi," she greeted him with a smile. "You're early."

"I know," he replied with a shrug. "But mother wants us at the mansion for lunch and made me promise to get you. So if you're packed, you can say goodbye to Remus and we'll leave."

"Give me five minutes and I'll be good to go. Dad already knows we're leaving for yours today, so I've got that covered; I just need to pack a few more books."

"You and your books," Draco muttered before nodding. "Meet you downstairs."

He turned on his heel and walked away, leaving Lillian to close the door after him. Striding back over to her mattress, she pulled out the horcrux book, alone with the advanced dark magic book, and stuffed them into her handbag. As they fell to the bottom, a crash was heard, and she swore under her breath.

"Those better not be my potions vials," she sighed. "Endless extensions are handy, but it's impossible to put everything in neatly."

Finally, she grabbed her wand, sticking it in her pocket before apparating downstairs to meet Draco.

"Ready?" he asked upon seeing her.

"Ready as I'll ever be," Lillian replied. "As long as you're certain your father doesn't hate me from that time in Dumbledore's office, we should be good."

"Relax, love," he reassured her. "My mother's been waiting to meet you since we started dating. Everything will be fine."

He offered his arm, she took it, and they disapparated.

Draco and Lillian appeared in the ginormous front yard of a towering dark manor. Despite the sunlight, the looming presence of the house seemed to suck all the happiness out of the atmosphere, making Lillian shrink back. Silently, Draco ushered her through the doors to see his mother waiting inside with a smile on her face. Upon seeing Draco, her face softened.

"Draco!" she greeted them warmly. "And I assume this is your Princess Lillian."

"That would be me," Lillian confirmed. "It's nice to meet you, Mrs. Malfoy."

"I'm glad you and Draco found each other," Mrs. Malfoy continued. "You're much better than his previous girlfriend. She wasn't pure - not that Draco would have known, of course." Her face wrinkled up in a disgusted expression before smoothing back over. "But that's behind us. Come on, now; I'll show you to your room. There's still about thirty minutes until lunch."

She set off, shoes clicking against the sleek wooden floor. Draco and Lillian trailed behind, following Draco's mother up a rather large set of stairs and down a couple hallways. A tapping sound soon made itself present, and the three of them found it to be the familiar snake-headed cane of Lucius Malfoy. Upon seeing them, he stopped, inclining his head to his son before turning his attention to the princess.
