Chapter 7... Ignorance is Bliss

"I just can't believe you went out with that moron! He could've hurt. You could've come back molested. He's the school's bad boy. "

"Being a bad boy doesn't mean that he's bad at heart. Come on Mary your cave man attitude is going far beyond. I thought going out with someone whom I don't know will not actually affect me , he just took me to the beach."

"Beach? He's taken you that away?.. it's a two hour journey from Boston and you say it's just a beach??"

Stacy looked over to Jem who was sitting in her dressing chair and was listening to them with rapt attention. He definitely did not know what they were talking about. On finding Stacy looking at him for his suggestion he tensed a bit.

"Umm.... yeah she has a point."

"Who?" , asked both the girl's in unison.

Jem's eyes panicked. " I-I don't know ".

Both the girl's looked at each other and broke into laughter. They laughed till their stomach hurts. Jem couldn't help blushing at his own stupidity. After a few seconds of laughter Mary stared at Stacy with utmost shock.

"You're laughing? Oh my gosh I can't believe this. You're finally laughing. It's the best news of the year probably. I'll call up Aunt Marge and let her know."
She took her phone and hurriedly went out of the room to call Marge.

They were at present sitting in her bedroom. As Mary left Jem turned to Stacy and said,

"Stacy take one advice from me. I know Mary will strictly oppose to this but still I somehow feel this should be said. Try hanging out with this person you went out with more often. If he has such an impact on you in just a couple of hours ,then he can change you completely."

Stacy did not reply anything. She just nodded .

"So which movie do you want to watch?" asked Mary with gleaming eyes . It had been months she could go out with Stacy out for a movie at the Hall.

At present they're standing in front of list of movies being showcased . They have absolutely no idea what they want to see.

"Kung Fu Panda won't be a bad idea ."

Mary rolled her eyes and retorted, "Are you just kidding me? Let's watch Civil War."

Then Mary went to the counter to buy tickets while Stacy headed to McDonald's just outside the movie ticket section to buy some coke and fries to munch on.

She went to the counter, paid the money and was waiting to collect the food, she noticed that in a corner table there Stephen was sitting , chatting with his friends with his arms resting on the hips of the red headed girl beside him. In that very same group, Stacy's high school crush Harry was also sitting. She never feels the same way now. She was eyeing him sideways when suddenly both their eyes meet. Stacy immediately moves her face away and collects her food from the waiter.

" Hey Stacy!"

She turned around to find Harry waving at her. She felt a bit self conscious about the fact that he's calling her towards the popular group of the school. As she approached the table , the hand of Stephen slips down from the girl's waist making her frown a bit . Every eye was fixed on her at present. With concerned blue eyes Harry continues.

"How's your health?"

Stacy felt the heat rise in her cheeks; It's not because Harry asked that question, it's because Stephen was staring at her with awe.

" I'm fine , what about you?"

" Great. So when are you joining back school?"

"I'll have to wait till the doctor says that I can join school. It won't be long I suppose. Probably I'll join from next session."

Harry nodded at it and said," Heard that Jem had come to Boston. Had he met you yet?"

"Yup. He's at present with his nan's . I think I should better get going , Mary's waiting outside for me ."

Harry gave a warm smile and nodded. While she was leaving she heard someone from them say," She's hot."

She smiled at herself and left the place meeting the awestruck Mary outside. She always wanted to talk to the popular group but unusually has an aversion for Stephen.

Mary squeezed her hands and said," I can't believe you were talking to them. What did they say?"

"Harry only asked me about my health, nothing else."

Suddenly Stacy felt a bit disappointed at the fact that Stephen did not even exchange greeting with her and moreover was shocked to see her there . She realized it's very tough to understand him. Probably he's rude in the morning and different the evening. Strange.

"That was an epic movie. It's way better than Kung Fu Panda.", comments Mary as they move out of the Hall through the exit.

Stacy had been very much absorbed in the movie. She did not reply to Mary while she went on fan girling . While they both were walking down the parking lot, someone gripped her hands to stop Stacy. She turned around to find Stephen looking at her with concerned eyes. Mary opened her mouth to speak but Stacy interrupted her,

"Mary you leave I'll come home by cab" and she gave her a assuring smile. Mary gave Stephen an icy glare and then left .

"That girl always freaks me out", Stephen sighs .

"Now tell me Linton what do you want?"

"Oh yeah , Well there's party which my friends will be organizing so I want you to come. Don't worry your friend is invited too."

Stacy thought for a while. She hadn't been to a party for a long time . This won't be bad either but she still has trusting issue. She hesitated before replying

"Oh okay".

Stephen gave a gleaming smile and said," Mind if I drop you home?"

Stacy nodded at it. This guy is having an effect on her.
