Nothing compares to California shopping districts around midday. I've lived here all my life and i'm still left breathless and amazed by the atmosphere. The torrents of people with their tens of shopping bags and venti cappuccinos, seemingly unbothered by any form of financial woe, running around like an army of ants. This was life for them, and they looked comfortable.... Content.

Though I was more of a home bug, Trina made shopping fun for me. We spent all day at the high end shops of uptown Cali. Laughing, drinking coffee, and for a second I forgot all about reality.... All about the pain and the insecurities.

That is, until the accident.

Trina stumbled out from behind the clothes feature with every article of clothing the store had to offer stacked precariously on top of eachother. "Hey Court, i'm going to go try on these on! Be back in a flash!" Judging by the pile of colors she was waddling back towards the dressing room with, I was going to be alone for a while.

I headed out towards Sam's Little Books of Wonder shop down the road. Sam's is where I always found myself. Being surrounded by books was like being surrounded by fantasy worlds you could choose to immerse yourself into.

By the end of an hour I easily had 30 books stacked in my hands, so I decided to check out, head back to the boutique and see if Trina had gotten bored of watching herself model in the mirror. Then it hit me. Literally, it hit me. Someone walked straight into me with the force of a thousand bricks causing the book tower to collapse and scatter all over the cheap shag carpetting.

I looked up to give the obviously ignorant perpetrator the most irritated look I could manage, but what I saw stopped me dead in my tracks. Deep brown, glissoning orbs full of remorse were staring back at me. But the unique brown of his eyes weren't the only thing that caused me to freeze.... what really caught my attention was the fact that these orbs were returning the same amount of fascination and amazement for me.
